Thank you so much for replying.

Well, Puerto Rico is the eastmost island of the Great Antilles, from west to east we have Cuba, Dominican Republic / Haiti (“La EspaΓ±ola”), then east is us, Puerto Rico. East-Southeast of us lie the rest of the Lesser Antilles (St Thomas, Guadaloupe, Aruba…). I assure you its loads of fun under the sun, a great spot for boaters due to the many small islands around the mainland.

Well, wont bother much with that. Hope you have fun in your trip, and say hi to Roberta from a fan in Puerto Rico! Cheers.

PS: Nice map of the area around Puerto Rico here: http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/namerica/caribb/pr.htm

The acquisitions began indeed in 1990. According to Jeff Tunnell:

β€œI founded Dynamix in Eugene, Oregon in 1984, guided the company from an independent game developer for Electronic Arts to an affiliated label of Activision, then sold the company to Sierra On-Line, a publicly traded company (and now the entertainment division of Vivendi/Universal), in 1990.”

It’s off-topic, but I wondered about another issue, the acquisition of Broderbund a year later? Was this indeed the case?

You must be right on the timing, because both of the games you mentioned were done pre-acquisition.

Really? Are you sure of that? I would have thought you bought Dynamix around 1989 or 1990.

I just wanted to add that I’m not a blind fanboy who likes everything she makes only because she is behind the games, I genuinely find them awesome! The only game she’s made that I wasn’t fully happy with is KQ8, but I understand that game had a troublesome production. It’s fun enough, but it’s far from as good as the other games she’s made I think.

Can’t wait to read the answers, but take as long as you need, I’m not in any hurry πŸ™‚

Btw, I just found out how to run XP in 640×480 so now I can play the game in full screen. I’ve just started over and the game still scares me even though I know exactly what’s coming πŸ™‚ It’s awesome!

I do read everything that gets posted, but only respond when I can think of something intelligent to say.

As you mentioned, we have been busy boating. As I type this we’re in Tokyo enroute to Croatia for a week cruising the islands.

Roberta is the expert in the family about geography, not me. I’ll ask her where Puerto Rico is, and add it to the list of places we want to get to some day. For now, our only near-term plans are the Bahamas, the East Coast of the US, Alaska, the West Coast of Mexico, and across the Pacific.

    Thank you for writing!

Dynamix was Sierra’s first acquisition. We bought them sometime in the early to mid eighties.

Dynamix was best known for their 3d simulators. In those days, there was no hardware 3d, so very few companies were producing any kind of 3d product. Dynamix had a huge hit with a product called Red Baron, and followed it with Aces over Europe.

Towards the end (1996) they had expanded into a wide range of categories, including pinball (3D Pinball), adventure games (Willie Beamish, Rama) and even fishing (Bass Fishing).

There were times when Dynamix could have used more cost controls (late delivery, budget overruns) but they consistently developed some of Sierra’s best products, and were extremely respected in the organization for their creativity and technical genious.

My belief is that they were shut down completely within a couple of years after Sierra was acquired. When I ran the company they had approximately 100 employees,

something between the 1st and the 3rd πŸ™‚

Dynamix AFAIK was always a ‘secondary’ company… all its productions i know of, were collaboration with other companies.. i also knew it through Sierra, and i was surprised when i found out some really old games by Dynamix

After you mount a C: drive in DOSBox, just mount a folder as a floppy drive. You can then copy the contents of each disk to this folder as the installer asks for it.

If all you see upon right-clicking is “View HTML” or “Save this page” etc., you are NOT clicking on the link texts.

Move your mouse pointer (called “cursor”) on the underlined text (such as “16. Ludwig”) – you will see the link destination URL “http://www.sierragamers.com/uploads/49/8279.mp3″  in the status bar on the bottom of the browser screen.

The text should also slightly highlight.

Right click; you should receive quite a large context menu (10 or more items in it). One of them should be “Save target as”. Use it to save the “object” the link points to to your hard drive.

I have, but this is broken in diskettes, and I don’t have disks to do this.

Besides, when i try to isntall it though the hard disk (define the pepper directory as a: in dosbox) it seems corrupted to me since it gives me 3 strange sound options, and the decompressing program isnt working

that’s why i am asking for an already installed zip

Maybe you are playing it on a cd-rom?

if not, in what folder do you keep your game? desktop? c:\? c:\sierra?

anyway, you can change directory by pressing the change directory button when you get that message πŸ™‚

I noticed that on the box scan from Ken Williams, one of the space ships looks a lot like the ship in “Return of the Jedi”. This ship was the one used by the Emperor on his arrival to the new Destar.

Well you would do everything on the PC first, then download the game onto the psp. So you would type all the dialog and text on your PC before putting it on the psp. I assume that nothing in the game creation process would take place on the PSP.
