I read Levy’s book. He could be a great writer for a tabloid. He tries to paint a picture of everything in the book with a psycological insight. For a vilian in his book you (Ken) did very well to get so much coverage. The drugs and the photo shoots were a bit much. Along with the quest to get John hitched sort of. If he saw what you say on this web page, what you wrote in your ads with the games, and the .avi videos he would not think of you as an arogant bos who only thinks of obtaining more money.

I don’t know much, but I am trying to learn everything I can about computers. I found the original disk for King’s Quest III. Unfortunately, they are on 5 1/2 disk. That must be why the copies were made on 3 1/4 disk. I could not find a Version file. The original disk had in the upper right corner K3L-100 thru K3L-102 (3 disk).

Weird. I’ve seen this error message once before, but can’t remember why. What file do you load to run the game?

I must admit I never played Gabriel Knight. But, kudos for choosing a Sierra game. It shows the point that the computer game companies today do not make games as well as Sierra did when Ken and Roberta ran the company.

Some of the Nancy Drew games are good. They are more on the line of Myst though where you get one screen shot after another with a little bit of animation. It would be nice in Shadow Ranch if you could actually ride the horse in 3D instead of in 3D screen shot. Mean Street was a great old mystery game. If I can think of some more I’ll let you know.

Johann, you are certainly right, there are private collectors as well as former staff members out there who do have such assets from Sierra’s golden days. Myself and several others are working at this very moment to obtain and process all such material for a future offspring site of SierraGamers. We have meant to make more information on our archival projects public, but that has been delayed because of just how busy we are. But it’s all coming 🙂

Vivendi would probably have cleared out all Sierra’s creative assets, but I cannot believe for one second that SOMEONE wouldn’t have taken the film footage, the sound recordings, the source code, original artworks, etc. I reckon much of this material still exist in physical form SOMEWHERE. Now if only we could track the current owner(s) down. This website is certainly a good start.

Sorry for entering the discussion so late.

Well I see that some have lost their QFG magazines-manuals. Anyone who wants them, they are availiable for download from the Coles’ page as PDF. Unfortunately the manual of QfG 4 has not been uploaded (?yet).

Since I don’t remembe the exact address, just drop me a line and I will mail them to you. Also, I can send you the QfG 4 disk versiοn by εmail.

    Oh. And on another note….

“hi. i did what you said about King’s Quest 6 and everything worked except when i tried to run it with VDMS. it said CAN’T FIND INTERP.ERR. please help!!”

I can help here. What has happened is that you put the batch file in another folder. Probably in a higher-up folder or something. Find the .bat file and put it into the folder where “INTERP.ERR” is (it’s also the folder where SCIWV.EXE is located). Then right click that, use with VDMS, and it should work fine. If VDMS created another shortcut file, and you want to use the same one, right-click the shortcut file, and where it says “DOS Command line,” click the Change button, and it should give you the option to find the .bat file wherever you have moved it.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me right now. Exactly. I’m able to get around it (albeit in a very frustrating manner) by moving the mouse out of the game window and back on, but having to do that every time I change the cursor is beyond stupid.

    Disk or CD version?

I actually own the ROTD SEGA CD itself. I also have ROMs for WB and ROTD.

I personally wouldn’t bother with the SEGA version, but for everyone else it’s a good choice. The SEGA version had scenes removed and a higher rating, which dissapointed me greatly, especially as my favourite scene got deleted.

However the voices and one or two extra goodies is a plus, as is the slightly better Adlib music for you folks (though for me the Roland MT-32 disk version music is supreme).

The ‘vault’ no longer exists. Vivendi killed off old Sierra treasures LONG ago, sadly enough.

SQ5 could be fun, but yeah, it’d need Gary 🙂
