(re: Problems running Leisure suit Larry 7 under Windows ME) I have created a new discussion section, “Bugs and Troubleshooting”, for discussions like this. I’m moving the appropriate messages to this section.

(re: What are the odds?) yes my favorite games of all time are classic sierra games and the bards tale games. there are some other fan games being made that look very promising:
    starflight 3 –

new bards tale style game –

the new fan sierra games look very promising as well, wouldnt that be neat if ken put all the teams that are doing these games together to produce some killer new sierra adventures?? 🙂

what i loved about the old games is the adventuring to so many different locations in each game (lsl 2, sq 1, kq 3).  there was a true sense of adventure that is all but dead now. i believe qfg 5 was the last true sierra adventure?

(re: Problems running Leisure suit Larry 7 under Windows ME) I’m sorry to be a “party spoiler”, but I think the messages like this, asking for technical assitance, do not belong in this forum…
There are many sites and newsgroups dedicated to solving problems like these. You should consult them before coming to this site.
I firmly believe that this site should be a site ABOUT Sierra, and as such we should talk about Sierra, and related material – but not about technical problems. I hate to see this forum becoming a technical assistance one.

i’ve played kq7 and torin’s passage in XP, if they run there they should work in ME.

definitely set your computer to 256 colors and 640×480 resolution before you start the game.

you might try the bulletin boards at sierra’s site, someone there may be able to help you.

you could also try installing the games using sierra’s Install & Update utility (this wound up on my machine with some program, i think it came with torin’s passage). it allows you to bypass the standard installer. or if this is what you have been doing, try clicking the setup.exe file on the game’s CD instead.

(re: Problems running Leisure suit Larry 7 under Windows ME) I always use Windows ME, and LSL7, KQ7, and TP have never given me any problems… Try running the installation program in 256 color mode, and skip the tests the program offers to run.

(re: Problems running Leisure suit Larry 7 under Windows ME) I have no idea. Are you sure you are running the most recent version of Direct X? The first thing I would do would be to patch your operating system, and direct X up to the current level, and hope the problem goes away.
If that doesn’t work, try the support section on the Sierra site.
If even that doesn’t work, try google — maybe someone has a fix somewhere.
If after all that you are still stuck — you could consider an operating system upgrade….

(re: What is up with the pics on the back of the kq5 box?) Ken,
All I want to say is that I can’t believe how quickly you responded to my post. I hate when you post and then you have to wait weeks for a response and then you forget about it. Then you check back months later and its too late to get any kind of conversation going. Thanks.

P.S. That’s pretty shady of the artist, I had a hunch that there was no version of the game with “Giant Graham” but I’m sure “SOME” consumers bought the game based on those pictures. Not that it’s not a great game, it’s just a little deceptive.

(re: The faery folk in Quest for glory 4: Shadows of darkness) yeah man, i go to erana’s peace by night but i never find anybody there…
thanks anyway, maybe if i start a game from the begining everything is going to be right (but im so lazy…) something like that happened to me when i was playing police quest 3, i was looking for a car crash site or something like that in a highway, i restarted a game from zero and there was, this kind of “bugs” in sierra games were so annoying…-_-

(re: What is up with the pics on the back of the kq5 box?) Seems to me that these aren’t screenshot, but actual paintings based on the game.

(re: The faery folk in Quest for glory 4: Shadows of darkness) Perhaps you are doing something wrong… You can only meet the Faery Folk at night, in the area directly south of Erana’s Peace.
Good luck, and let me know if this helped or not. 🙂

how funny! the light blue box is the same one i had, but i had it for the mac so i’m not sure if it showed the same screenshots. (i don’t know if the mac had a 16 color option).

looks to me like they doctored it since they were trying to show off the 256 colors… maybe a normal sized king graham wouldn’t have been able to show off the same detail and shadows? not to mention, the 16 color screenshots just happen to be ones where king graham is tiny…

Guess you missed it, then. Adventures already have made their comeback. It may not be Sierra, but it’s still Adventure.

    (re: I miss Sierra)

Same here, I started playing Sierra
games back in middle school. Now I’m a few months away to getting a BS degree in Comp Sci, something I might not be doing if it weren’t for playing those old Sierra games.

(re: Kq9) Leisure Suite Larry: The Motion Picture
Now that would be a totally awesom movie, Who would play Larry though thats a though question, a combo of Steve Buscemi (kinda looks like a older Larry), Jerry Seinfield (he´s funny like Larry) and John Travolta´77 Version (Looks good in polyester like our man Larry) would do the trick.
Anyhows, Since this is my first post here just like to say Hi 🙂

(re: What is up with the pics on the back of the kq5 box?) Hot off the scanner, emily. This is from the back of the Light Blue King’s Quest box – the original “flying family” box, does not feature a Graham of this magnitude in a screenshot on the back of it. Enjoy.

I always wondered about that too – the pic of Graham in the forest. Somehow I was convinced it must have been in some version of the game, and it was just unlucky that it was not in the PC 256 version. LOL. Oh well.

(re: What is up with the pics on the back of the kq5 box?) OK – I asked Roberta. She says it must have been something the artists did who did the box. There is no “giant Graham” anywhere in the game.
