Participant(Thanks to all of you!) James,
thanks for offering your help! This is exactly what we need, people willing to actually do something instead of just sitting arund and letting things happen. Be assured that as soon as there will be something we need your help with, we will let you know immediately. In the meantime all you can do is spread the news everywhere you can and see what happens.
Different subject.
We proudly present 70 signatures to the petition on day 2, and, in addition to that, we even have the signature of Ken Williams himself, which takes the whole petition to whole new level in my eyes!!! Extremely cool of you, Ken!!! Thanks!

Participant(re: Take it slow…) Yes that is why I asked beforehand. I noticed that the petition has spread very far though…even onto the hero6 site which was kind of a surprise to me:) I’m willing to help in any way though just ask. Also, maybe you should consider using Ken’s program for your site… he sounded kinda excited about it 😛

Participant(Take it slow…) James, everyone, please, don’t be to quick at writing to any address you might find. Seriously, it is not the time for it yet. Our “operation” hasn’t reached this point yet, now it’s just about gathering information and we have to take it slow and be veeeeeeeeery careful if we want to do things right. For the moment I think it better for one person to advance step by step. But be assured that the time for what you’re up to will come, hopefully quite soon. Thanks, and please follow my advice in order not to spoil it all, before it even has begun. If by any means somebody gets his hands upon an address that could be of any use, please let me know, so we can think of an appropriarte message!!!
Ken, thank you for the good hint. I will do my very best to make the best of it! By the way, I have noticed that you havn’t signed yet. I’m really not trying to urge you, I suppose you have good reasons not to, which I probably would understand, if I knew. We all are really grateful for your interest and support, you rock!

Participant(re: re: re: re: re: Larry with Al petition) doern,
if you do get the email I would also like to write. Would it be better for more people to write regarding the issue or just one on behalf of all?Unknown,Unknown
Participant(re: re: re: re: Larry with Al petition) Doern:
Al Lowe has been in contact with several people at Sierra recently, including swapping an email with its new President. I haven’t spoken to anyone there in a while. My best recommendation would be that you write to Al, and see if he’ll share the email address of their hauncho.

I saw your comment about netscape… is it this site you had a problem with? I use Netscape 4.7 all the time with this site, and it works fine. What problem are you having?

Participant(re: re: re: re: Larry with Al petition) I left the petition address on a lot of game boards yesterday. I would also suggest that if you see any posts on any board about it then post a reply to keep it active.
I tried to email Sierra through their board but it was all for tech help. Is there an email address to write to?Unknown,Unknown
Participant(re: re: re: Larry with Al petition) Ken, it really would mean a lot to me if you were to sign the petition. Also thanks for the generous offer to use your software. It is a good feeling that you are in favour of the things we’re up to.
Here is what wanted to ask: Do you have any idea on how we might possibly contact anybody at Sierra? I haven’t been able to find anything other than the tech support, and they’re very unlikely to tell me what I want to know. I thought you still might have some ways to get through to them…
thanks, doernUnknown,Unknown
Participant(re: re: re: re: Larry with Al petition) I don’t think that we will be needing your software Ken, but thanks for the kind suggestion 🙂 . We have a professional web designer in our “team” who should be able to get the site up and running. I’m not the guy making the site though, so I’m not sure about the usage of your software Ken. Again, kind suggestion though, if there would be more people like you in this world it would surely be a better place to live in.
If anyone has any suggestions or can help in any way you can post a message or two on Al Lowe’s Message Board at

Participant(re: Larry with Al petition) Just wanted to verify the message. This petition has been initiated by Vicc and it is part of some kind of Larry with Al campain we’re trying to bring up. We are grateful for evey incoming signature. The petition is a huge success so far (24 with a the first 24 hours!) and it would be nice if we could hold that up!
Go there, sign it and make a difference!
There is also going to be new Larry site under

. It looks like we will be able to provide all the great stuff there used to be on the Ultimate Leisure Suit Larry Site hosted by Catz before if shut down a year ago. Luckily there was somebody clever enough to download the entire contents of the page and that somebody showed up and is willing to help us.. So have it in mind!

i really enjoyed PQ1 and 2. PQ1, i solved all by myself without a hint book when i was 11 or so… i was very proud of myself! and i loved PQ2 because i was a budding adolescent and liked the love story. ahh, hormones…
i’ve never played PQ3 all the way through, since we had a mac in those days and it didn’t come out for the mac. (i had it ordered for months… big disappointment for me when the mac port was cancelled.) i have it now, and have played part of it on Win98, but for some reason it hasn’t gripped me like the others. i did play the PQ1 remake for the first time recently and really enjoyed that… a nice mix of nostalgia and new stuff.
PQ4 i have mixed feelings about. i really liked the realism of this game. but, i didn’t like the ending. it stopped being believeable for me, and i didn’t like the departure from police procedure (where’s his backup?!) so while i enjoyed the game for the most part, the ending was a big disappointment. (i also played this game on a mac initially, and recently picked up a PC version… maybe i will change my mind if i play it again.)

what operating system are you using? what’s the problem you’re having with the sound?
GoSierra has helped me in Windows 98, but there have also been games where I had to tinker a bit (or a lot!) with the sound settings before I could get them working… I’m trying to remember what game I just had this problem with. I think it was the multimedia version of KQ5. Initially I wasn’t even given a choice of sound cards… I had to try a number of things to get it to recognize mine. I’m sorry I can’t remember exactly what I did, but it was not with a third party program, it was all tinkering with the install.bat.
If you’re using XP, VDMSound helps with some games. I used it to get rid of crackling sounds in GK2, and to synch up some music that was all garbled in KQ6.

Heh, we couldn’t disagree more. I played PQ4 twice all the way through. PQ1-PQ3 I can’t even count how many times I played over and over… I simply cared nothing for PQ4.Unknown,Unknown

Shadow of Destiny / Memories is a great game. i played the PC port a few months ago and it really sucked me in. i still haven’t gotten 100% in all the chapters!
banjo, i’m not sure if you meant those are the only adventures you’ve played recently — but there have been a TON more adventures than those three released in the past few years.

The new Zelda on Game Cube is a fun adventure game. It reminds me of the goold old Sierra ones. You charecter had lots of facial expressions and is fun to watch. Maybe Nintendo is kinda like the “new” Sierra (but don’t make games for the PC!)

Participant(re: re: re: New Adventure Games?) Maybe that’s why I find myself drawn to mostly Japanese games these days.
The original ‘Clock Tower’ and ‘Clock Tower 2’ (just called ‘Clock Tower’ here in Australia and the US, since they never released the first one there) is a good example of an adventure game combined with suspenseful action. Konami’s ‘Shadow of Memories’, however (on the PS2) is a REAL adventure game (ie. no combat, etc.), but in 3D (even if it is a bit easy). I think ‘Shadow of Memories’, ‘Escape From Monkey Island’ and ‘The Longest Journey’ are the only adventure games I’ve seen released in recent years…

I never loved the PQ series really madly, except of course for the superb PQ4, but I did like the first two a lot, and enjoyed parts of the third one.
PQ1 was okay, like a typical made-for-TV cop thriller, and the cliches were not too numerous in it yet. The SCI version was of course incomparably better but the original AGI had its charm, too.
PQ2, in spite of more cliches, was perhaps even better, with a good and often plausible plot, some suspense, and good puzzles. (And the driving was gone! 🙂
PQ3 was awful, badly designed, bugged, with its horrible driving parts, and a ridiculous cliched ripoff of a “story”, with plot holes bigger than the Grand Canyon. (How many more “lost” Bains brothers/uncles/grandpas would we see trying to kill Sonny Bonds if Jim Walls continued on to PQ4?)
Blue Force was actually very good, even if if had its big share of cliches, again. Nice, unjustly forgotten game. I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel.
But the outstanding one is of course PQ4, one of the best adventures ever made, tough, gripping, dark, gritty, realistic… made me feel like an actual investigator 🙂 – especially since the game required me to really act like one. No more cheap humor, no cartoony graphics, and a detective I could identify with instead of the hillbilly cop from the first three. 😛 A dark, deep, suspenseful, involving plot, and a conclusion that scared wimps used to the comic book realities of the first three games… A wonderful game, probably the last truly great point-n-click, 2D adventure made in the 1990s. Only one thing was wrong with it from my point of view – that it was too short. 🙂 When a story is good and involving, I don’t want it to end… 🙂
Too bad chief Gates and Tammy Dargan didn’t make another police adventure together… I’d love to be John Carey again… or maybe go back in time and work on a case with Bob Hickman in a prequel. 🙂

Participant(re: re: Colonel’s Bequest) You really can’t continue a series without the original designers involvement.
Amen.

I would settle for EGA/VGA graphics that work with today’s PCs for new games, if it was a good, quality Sierra game…Unknown,Unknown
Participant(re: Colonel’s Bequest)
Yup, only 2 Laura Bow games. And no idea why she opted out of Phantas2, but I am thankful that she did, because I cared nothing for the game… (though if she had a hand in it, it might have turned out better, considering how much I loved Phantas1…)Unknown,Unknown
Participant(re: re: Movie Ideas for Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers)
I once had a crappy little GK page, and I did the same thing. All GK fans have probably thought about it at one time or another. The most annoying thing about it is that Hollywood keeps making all these Supernatural Thriller movies and TV Shows, which are crap compared to how good a GK movie would be.
