I can definetly relate to that. I took a full year of Spanish in College and it can be challenging. I have friends that live in Colombia, South America and they keep pushing me to practice. Wish I would have known more when I took a trip down there. Talk about being nervous and tounge twisted!

(re: re: re: re: Creators of Manhunter?) Manhunter is great! Very creepy and even funny at times. Sad to hear that Barry passed away…

Hope they do make a third game, it would be really great with today’s computers….especially if they stick with the old format and just add graphics! Wouldn’t it be very similar to shivers with a manhunter twist?

(re: re: re: re: Request for photos…) > Chris: Roberta is still learning Spanish, and I’m still learning French. Both of us do pretty well in our respective languages, but I wouldn’t call either of us fluent. Learning a foreign language is something that is best started as a kid. When you wait until our age to start it’s A LOT tougher. -Ken W Dave

(re: re: Request for photos…) Thanks Ken, that sounds great!
Also just wanted to say that it was a real pleasure to find this site and to know you were running it personally. I bought my first Sierra Game (Kings Quest V) back in 1991 when I was given my first PC (A blazingly fast Packard Bell 386 – 16 Mhz system) as a high school graduation gift. I had never seen a game with such beautiful colored graphics and easy mouse controlled game play. I enjoyed it tremendously and still have the game to this day (box and all). It’s a good thing for us all that you didn’t waste your time writing that Fortran compiler otherwise our lives would have been a lot more boring. 🙂
Glad to know you and Roberta are enjoying life after Sierra. Did Roberta ever finsh learning Spanish?
    Chris.

    > One of the Sierra people just discovered a box of old pictures, and box covers, and sent it to me. I’ll see what’s in it and do some scanning. < Ken, I registered the entire ClassicSierra DOM (domains) for use as promotion to drive major traffic to this site over the next six months. With the proper drive, a killer petition, and a whole lot of fun — my guess is we can get Vivendi to start releasing the Quest series and the other collections again. They’ve already been mastered, boxed, all they have to do is put them on the press again… All we need to do is create the market.

(re: Request for photos…) I have BOXES of old pictures from the Sierra days. Unfortunately, we just moved and the boxes are buried somewhere under tons of other boxes. Actually: it was a year ago that we moved, but we haven’t been home to unpack.

Yes, Barry Murray did indeed pass away a few years ago. Dave & Dee Dee now have a web design company, together with Barry’s two sons (Mike and … I forgot the name). I sent an email to Mike a few weeks ago, after re-playing both MANHUNTER games and finding myself amazed at how cool they still are. He said he’s flattered that people still enjoy the game, and they’ve often thought about creating a third part and/or remaking the first two. Just imagine, with today’s technology, a third MANHUNTER would be a *disturbing* ride.

    > I would think office space in Oakhurst would be cheap – perhaps $1 per square foot per month. I think the building was around 16,000 square feet – or, about $16,000 per month. That sounds high though… < My lease in downtown Reading is less than $10sq ft/yr so I get a great deal. 🙂 Ryan, if you are passionate about it, definitely work for it… I’d just… build up the company, and then PLAN to move, if you really want to, once you can afford it. 🙂 Dave

(Working link) Ok, it seems to hate this page for some reason…dont know why.
Try copying one of these two links into your address bar, then it should work!

(re: Oakhurst Facility Rent) Anyways Ken, I have but one question, if one were to try to form a game company, and use the old Oakhurst building, could you give me a decent estimate of the monthly rent?? I know it sounds stupid but I am just curious!
    Ryan:
I don’t think the old building is for rent .. but, if it were, I have no idea what it would rent for.
Off the top of my head:
I would think office space in Oakhurst would be cheap – perhaps $1 per square foot per month. I think the building was around 16,000 square feet – or, about $16,000 per month. That sounds high though…
    Why do you ask?

Me, like DAve, can encode those. I can do Mpeg 1 or 2, Windows Media, Quicktime, Realmedia, and almost any AVI codec. You can split the group of videos between us! 🙂

Hey, we could compile a DVD of old Sierra videos!
