(re: Legality of Fan AGI/SCI games) Wow, you’ve got some nasty patents there: a method for synchronizing mouth movements and sounds (though it seems that it technically could be applied to any animation) and one for pretty well a point and click movement interface. Who owns these patents currently, and is there any way they could be used against someone using methods comparable to those described in the patents?
In other words, is there any way someone who was making a game roughly equivalent to a Sierra adventure game could be using patented techniques?

The patents I was talking about

(re: re: Huber on ER, Smith on Seinfeld) I saw that yesterday too! 🙂
Too bad Dean Erickson or Peter Lucas don’t star in their own big movies. I think that Dean himself said that he puts “Beast Within” on his credits, but it does him more harm than good. If only hollywood knew how much sierra fans like Gabriel Knight 2…..they should at least be shown some of the videos…

(re: Huber on ER, Smith on Seinfeld) i’m watching a seinfeld episode right now with Huber in it! george wants to convert to some orthodox religion so he can keep dating a girl. Huber plays the grand priest guy.
    I don’t think I’ve ever seen this one before…

(re: re: Swapping/Buying/Finding) I had all the original boxed sets of sierra games…..but they simply took up way too much room. I tossed the boxes but kept some of the original disks and manuals. I burned most of the games onto a compilation game CD. Luckily I did, since some of those disks may not have lasted. I already lost games to bad floppies before….thank god for the internet and old game lovers. 😉

(re: re: where to find old games) i’m sure the people who sell them or donate them don’t realize the games are rare… makes me wonder what i might have packed off to Goodwill not realizing what i had!

(re: where to find old games) Yes, EB is one of the best places to look….Don’t really know why people sell these games since they are so rare. I have that exact same Pq collection….It cost the same as what you said! 🙂

(re: Game trading) i think this is a good idea. i’m always picking up games at thrift stores… it’s hard for me to pass up a game even if i already have it, because i know someone else will want it. i just saw the PQ collection (just the four games, not SWAT) at the goodwill on friday. i didn’t buy it because i didn’t feel like waiting in line… but now i regret it. and i already own a copy! but there are other games i’d love to have that i never seem to find…

    (Sneak Peek)

Oh yeah! I believe I have the same one that you Antonio and Brad both have. I couldn’t believe it when I found it one day for cheap. The interface is horrible though, and I couldn’t get much of the demos to run independently of the CD (at that time I was particularily interested in the SQ6 demo). Since then, Frans and I believe VB have the SQ6 demo both in floppy and CD version for download that does run independently, so that’s cool. As for the videos on there, it’d be good to check them out. As for Sierra games with FMV, perhaps some of that video could be put on the DVD. Phantasmagoria (the original) is the obvious choice, but selections (or as much as possible) from Phant 2 and GK2 would be great too, especially for those of us who never got to play those games.

(re: re: re: Interaction Magazine List – Sneak Peeks) Hey Tony,
I have the “Sneak Peeks” “Vol 2” It’s still in shrinkwrap, so I haven’t ever looked at it. It’s copyright 1994, and has KQVII, SQVI (with playable demo) Phantasmagoria, GK, LSL6, PQ:OS, and Freddy Pharakas, along with other Action, Sports, Strategy, Family, and Simulation games.
Plus it’s got Video interviews with Roberta Williams, and Al Lowe, and more!
Hmm… I may have to break it open , just to see what the videos are… curious now.

Could you please edit your post to list the main artwork/article on the covers of the Interactions that you listed below? We are tring to see if there are alternate covers for any of those. Thanks!

(re: Finding / buying old InterActions) Hmmm… got me — I have no idea. My recollection is that we always published Interaction, but maybe not. We almost bankrupted at some point – but, I don’t remember when. We may have stopped doing interaction for a few years during this timeframe. We’ll see what people come up with. Now, I’m curious.

    -Ken W

    Ken,

Well, I hope you can find out and/or remember.. this question has actually bugged me for years. Here is the Chronology as I know it :

Sierra Newsletter (Beginning) – Vol 2 No 1 Spring 89
    Sierra News Magazine Vol 2 No 2 Summer 89 – Vol 4 No 2 Spring 91
Sierra/Dynamix News Magazine Vol 4 No 3 Summer 1991 ONLY
    Interaction Magzine (stopped Vol/No count) Fall 1991 – R.I.P.

My Summer of 1997 Issue shows a title/font treatment change from how the old Interaction Title used to be on the front cover, but that could have happend at the beginning of the year with the Spring 1997 issue.

I have an extra copy of the GK1 CD. If you have any other Sierra Game of interest to me, I might be willing to trade.

Thats a collection that I need. I have Gabriel Knight 2. I also managed to *ahem* find GK1…..but I’d rather buy the actual talkie CD version. Hopefully I’ll get it one day!

(re: Huber on ER, Smith on Seinfeld) the Internet Movie Database claims that Gerde went on to play the aunt in My Big Fat Greek Wedding… but they’re wrong. two different actresses with the same name…

(Huber on ER, Smith on Seinfeld) Huber (Kay E. Kuter) has a pretty impressive filmography… he did made an appearance at ER once, but participated in over 30 movies, and add countless appearances in various episodes of many shows (ER, Seinfeld, Fraiser, X-Files, Star Trek TNG, much more..)
Smith (Bruce Ed Morrow) didn’t do too well… he was on Rosewell (1994) but as an alien clown…
