(Wow…no new posts in this subforum in two years.)

I’ve been drawing quite a bit of Sierra fan art these last few months, and I just realized that I haven’t posted any links to it here! So here’s a big collection of sketches and CG’d work, very little of which is of a serious nature (the links redirect you to DeviantART, so they may take a while to load; also, some pictures need to be clicked on in order to see all the details):

Having the Fates as Relatives (King’s Quest 7)

Why Manannan Kidnapped Boys (King’s Quest 3)

Alexander has had enough (King’s Quest)

    Crazy Eights (King’s Quest)

Sierra’s Girls (King’s Quest, Laura Bow, Leisure Suit Larry, Lost in Time, Pepper’s Adventures in Time (whew!))

Alexander is no fun anymore (King’s Quest)

The most troubled of them all (a sequel to the previous picture, King’s Quest)

Princes With Problems (a follow-up to the above two pictures, King’s Quest)

    King’s Quest doodles

    CONSPIRACY! (King’s Quest)

    Life Donor (King’s Quest 7)

    Gwydion (King’s Quest 3)

The horrifying truth about Valanice’s parentage (King’s Quest)

    Brother and Sister (King’s Quest)

    That’s it!

It is nice to see a variety of games being made into web pages.  I never got the chance to play all of them but I now get the chance to see what they were like.

I’m looking forward to this too.  It looks like an issue is finally up.  I hope we get high quality box scans too.  All I find online are box scans like on mobygames with the annoying watermarks and they’re usually not a high enough quality scan.  All of my old magazines and boxes are falling apart from natural wear and tear.  I didn’t take care of my old game boxes like I should have.  Actually, I did try to take care of them, because even back then the games and boxes meant something to me, but I played the games so much that the slip covers eventually got mutilated from constantly being slid on and off.

Sorry for the late reply. Indeed, he was/is creating a game, called The Exchange Student.

    http://www.theexchangestudent.com/

Btw, the Artwork is by Bill Eaken (Fate of Atlantis, the Dig etc.).

He gave up The Inventory when he started a new game site. For the inventory magazines see his site:

The topic of TSN/INN patents came up recently on another discussion forum that I frequent, and we ended up doing a little checking using Google’s patent search.

We only came upon one patent relating to TSN, but it’s an interesting one:

    http://www.google.com/patents?vid=USPAT6692359&id=QfIQAAAAEBAJ

Looks like it was (and still is?) owned by AOL.

But it won’t be AdventureCon without the Williamseses!!
Can’t you convince her to be impractical just this *once*? 🙂

We haven’t decided, but it is VERY unlikely. I’ll always take any excuse to go to Las Vegas, but Roberta is more practical.

As we get closer, I’ll see if there is a way to workaround some conflicts we have.

I know that and I have mentioned it in a few of my replies, so I’m not so much worried about Oberon and Titania anymore.  Plus, at this point in my book, they don’t fit in with the world.  But thanks for the link.Smiley

It’s true, Vivendi hasn’t contacted me again.  XD  I’m not expecting a reply at all.  I was pretty sure that Oberon and Titania weren’t copyrighted or anything.  They are two mythological people that are used frequently.  The only names I plan to use are “ETHERIA” and the “DRAGONNETS”.  But’s that’s pretty much it.  I don’t think I’d be putting in Oberon and Titania because I’ve been getting serious about my book and the way things have turned out, they don’t fit anywhere in Etheria.  More or less, Etheria has shaped to become an image much that of Olympia, but not at the same time.  I’ve got the gods of my book residing there, so it’s pretty different.  I have planned to use the description as Etheria as the land in the sky, with the elaborate scenery but not the same as the KQ version, and the fact that Etheria rests on the clouds.

I think it’s still way too early for me to be contacting a publisher or anyone like that.  Even though I’ve been working on this book for around five years or so, it’s far from finished.  I’ve just gotten my inspiration again and am working around the clock on it’s details.  I’m not even writing the story at this point!  I’m still trying to flesh out the world since I did a crappy job of that at first.

Titania and Oberon comes from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Etheria appears in publications much earlier than Sierra has existed. http://www.ccel.org/m/mcclure/etheria/etheria.htm

    Hi!

I don’t know if you know the following sites:

You can find the KQ1,2 and the Quest for Glory 2 remakes here: http://www.agdinteractive.com/.

The KQ3 remake can be found here: http://www.infamous-adventures.com/kq3/

and the KQ4 remake can be found here: http://www.waywardmind.com/KQ4/

The KQ4 remake site is kinda empty but more content will be put up…

All of the mentioned remakes have been done by fans and are very, very time consuming so I don’t think there will be other remakes with more current technology.

But you can start with those Smiley

    Happy gaming!

Just wanted to say: keep up the good work!

The ideas thrown around in this topic all sound really good. Like mentioned in this thread, the thing I really miss on this site is a centralized ‘Sierra database’. There already is a lot of cool stuff to be downloaded, like music and some video’s but ‘we’ need maybe something like the Gamespot pages.

A link to a game homepage with all information about the game on one page. This could include all the stuff that Ken mentioned like, demos, videos, interviews (video, audio), music files, player reviews and walkthrus, player ratings, box and manual scans, game patches, the whole works!

Sounds ambitious and a lot of work (and it probably is) but if the database and ‘front office’ is done, the fans can be made responsible for the content. The administrators only task would be to ‘admin’ the content. In addition, I might also be a good idea to start an inventory of stuff that people have and are willing to upload so that the workload can be spread.

We actually have the mentioned system in the form of our Sierra Gamers forum but it might be more managaeble if it is transformed into more of a kind of Wiki setup.

I don’t know if that’s possible with TalkSpot or if it even is the direction you’re looking for but it’s just an idea Smiley

I take it you haven’t heard from Vivendi yet Smiley

I don’t know what names you want to use in your book, but I know that there is a publisher named Oberon and afaik they haven’t been sued yet…

Also, the names Oberon and Titania have been used in Disney cartoons and other stories. Disney doesn’t own the rights to the names so I think you’ll be fine.

If you get in trouble, you could always pull a “Dan Brown”! He copied and used so much material from other resources (like Holy Blood, Holy Grail) and he still won the lawsuit. Smiley

All kidding aside, if you really want to write the book and are really commited to finishing your project, you might want to contact a publisher or lawyer. All we can do here is speculate.

We don’t want to get you into trouble you know!

Just to keep those who are interested updated, JT and I are throwing around ideas at the moment, and I’m doing a few things here and there, as you’ll notice small updates happening on a daily basis. I have kept track of all the questions and things that have been pointed out, and I will get around to addressing them either by posting a reply, or by making an update where required.

    Ken:

    1) Do you still do any programming work in your spare time and how well is your knowledge of today’s systems such as XP or Vista?

*** I program every day, but these days it is in VB.net, Javascript, or SQL. I’m very up to date as an engineer.

    2) Have you or Roberta played any games, whether PC or Console lately? Some games I would recommend, perhaps for recreation on your next boat trip, are Baldur’s Gate (an RPG) The Longest Journey (Adventure), Empire Earth (A strategy game),  and World of Warcraft (an online game)

*** I haven’t played a game of any sort in years. That said, I play an hour of chess every day, against my dad, via the Internet, on http://www.atlanticchess.com

    3) What was/is your favorite genre of gaming? Any particular favorite games from Sierra or any other company?

*** I always thought the future of games was in massively multiplayer games. If I were to re-enter the business, I’d do an online game of some sort.
