    Hey Tom,

If you would actually scan the disks themselves with their labels at 300 DPI and save as PSD or TIF, that would be great for the continuing archival efforts.

As for the disk contents, the demos, if you want to email them to me at klassen at hotmail dot com I’ll upload them here at SierraGamers in a permanent location, and provide a mirror as well at another permanent location.

I had this same point bug happen to me as well. It was in the original King’s Quest release, not any of the remakes. I kept the save game because I thought it was a cool bug and I remember intending to submit a picture of it way back in the day to the magazine, but I never got around to it. I’m sure with enough searching I could still dig up the save game. Think it was around 1993.

I think it would be great! I hope someone does.

If it were someone who already had a contract with a publisher, I think I could do a lot to help them.

Al, it might be good to have the The Gabriel Knight 4 Campaign site listed in the links here, too.

Wow, sorry for that BIG delay in responding.  (Over a year)

I’ll try to find them again.   In the past year I purchased a new home and moved in.  So everything was boxed up and shipped to the new place.  Now I have the fun of unpacking a lifetime of items.  I’m finding new things every day (Oh so THATS where that was)  I’m sure you understand.

Once I find them, I’ll upload pictures of the disks.  They didn’t come in anything since they were disks ordered through our headquarters so I think when we got them, it was a floppy in a clear plastic baggy.  I know, thrilling.

And I’ll also try to upload the actual demos to a new server so they are able to be downloaded once again.

    Take Care, Tom.

Hello, I am a first time poster here. I too am a student
interested in game design. I am a senior, and a computer science major. Both my
girlfriend, of 3 years, and I are in the processes of beginning our Masters in
CS. I would love to hear any advice you may have about the game industry.

We both love your games, and enjoyed their masterful
storytelling. With so many of today’s games having budgets the size of
blockbuster movies, it seems lately many are lacking the depth your games had.

So, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for us young
    impressionable upstarts?

On behalf of Phoenix Online Studios, I’m pleased to announce a new round of recruitment for our project The Silver Lining. The Silver Lining is a fan-produced continuation of Sierra’s classic King’s Quest series that is being produced a dedicated team spanning the globe with the legal consent of Vivendi Games, the series current copyright holders, as well as the blessing of series creators Ken and Roberta Willams.

We are currently seeking talented individuals to fill new positions in Art, Programming, and Audio. Experience using Maya and/or the Torque engine would be a distinct advantage. These positions consist of:

    3D Modelers
    – Create 3D game sets and characters based on 2D designs from other artists

    3D Texturists
    – Create textures for sets and characters based on the 2D painted versions

    3D Animators
    – Create in-game motion used in sequences and cut-scenes

    Sound Designers
    – Design sound effects to accompany in-game animations

    Scripters
    – Code game scenes by linking art, sound and writing together

In addition to your technical and artistic ability, we’re also looking for those who can demonstrate good teamwork, time management, motivation and problem-solving abilities in meeting weekly production deadlines. As each portion of this game will be made available as a free download from our website upon completion, these positions are unpaid and voluntary. Communication over email and MSN Messenger is also required to coordinate tasks and progress reports.

If you are interested in joining this vibrant team, gaining valuable game development experience and creating something special, please view the full position descriptions and application details at http://www.tsl-game.com/join/ or contact me at michael.bright@postudios.com with any queries.

They had originally moved it to Atlantic City before scrapping it for 2007.  If they do end up doing it, it may end up there instead of LV.

The next one (2008) is tentatively supposed to be in Las Vegas correct? I thought I had saw a flyer somewhere.  That is driveable for me as I am in CA.

AdventureCon ended up being posponed until 2008 so it seems no one will be attending this year.

You may already know this, but just in case, Sierra’s early adventure games ran under a scripting language interpreter called AGI.  My guess is that the C64 either didn’t have enough memory, or enough processing power to support the interpreter.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a PQ remake. Back in 2005, there was a group (can’t remember their name atm) that was planning to remake PQ2 but at the end of 2005 the project was abandoned.

After that, there hasn’t been news on a new remake…

Dear Ken and Roberta,  (First of all a million thanks…(see other category.))

I was wondering why Sierra never published the KQ or SQ games on the Commodore 64?  It should easily have been able to handle the equivalent of EGA graphics and had great sound capabilities (though I’m sure you knew this.)

    Thanks,

    Steve

Just wanted to say that I started playing Sierra games in ’91 (but knew of them from a friend 6 yrs. earlier.)  When we finally got a PC I went straight to the Sierra section for KQ5…Getting Sierra games was like Christmas…also loved INN(TSN).
