The version 0.61 Win32 installer is the one you want, if you have Windows.

The first Clock Tower game was for Super Nintendo, but it was only avaliable in Japan. However, the game is alaviable for download at most ROM sites for play with SNES emulators. It was also translated into English by Gideon Zhi of The Aeon Genesis Translation Proclaimation (The AGTP).
Shadow of Memories was released as Shadow of Destiny in the US. I just bought it on eBay and I think it is one of the strangest and unique games I have ever played. You can get it pretty cheap, so if any of you ever find a copy, I would highly recommend it!

You have QfG IV listed as Wages of War when it should be Shadows of Darkness =)

Speaking of Monkey Island I found a nice retro band that redid the theme song plus the theme songs of many classics using live instruments. 🙂
They also have a video for the commodore 64.

Participant(re: does anybody have any old computer magazines they loved reading ) I subscribed to Compute! PC Magazine back in the day. I have a box of old computer magazines some of which have Sierra ads in them. There is an article that I specifically remember of a Space Quest III review in one of them. If I get the chance I will scan them. To this day I still enjoy look through them from time to time.

Participant(re: Syberia 2 – Adventure games reborn?)
Syberia 2 has turned out to be a bit dissappointing frankly. Structurally it follows on directly from the first game (i.e. they’re still on the train), however the actual gameplay mechanics have undergone some drastic changes in some areas. For example, in the first game Kate Walker was a very girly girl, very posh, not very strong physically, but smart all the same. In the sequal she’s Lara Croft. All kind of character inconsistencies start creeping in. Suddenly she’s super physical, whereas before she was all brains, not much brawn. Just shows bad game design, in my opinion. (Especially considering that it’s set STRAIGHT AFTER the first game.)
All the same, I do not believe the first game (regardless of sales) was all that brilliant. It was beautiful, but didn’t play that well. It wasn’t nearly interactive enough. Which means that although it overall created a good impression (mostly through some very good dramatic writing), as an adventure game it was pretty weak.
Try to find The Longest Journey or Sanitarium instead, in my opinion the two best post-Williams-Sierra point-and-click adventure games.

Ken: Good luck, and I hope your voyage is a safe one!
All Sierra fanatics and trolls: If you have any plans on abusing the emergency contact information on that site (like calling Ken to say how much you loved Leisure Suit Larry or to pitch a game idea), consider the fact that you may be putting Ken and Roberta’s lives at risk (a very slight risk, but one nonetheless), along with everyone else on the boat. Considering how beloved this couple is among their friends, family and fans, including many people with considerable technical and IT prowess, you may not remain anonymous for very long if you decide to act like a jackass.
That said, Ken: Unfortunately, there is also the slight risk that you may get telemarketer calls if any web spiders picked up those numbers. Next time, it would be best to post them in graphic format instead of plain text.

Participant(re: re: Sierra Video Catalog 1989-90)
You should probably use Quicktime then. Boy, watching that brought back memories and also thoughts of how great those games could be today. The sound effects and speech used in the catalogue just showed the possibilities. I’m going to bust out my old Sierra games now and reminisce some more. If anyone could post the one with KQ4, PQ2, etc. from 1988 that would be great, that’s the video catalogue I remember having before my brother destroyed the tape. Oh well.

I couldn’t get it working with Media Player 9. I got a message that the file was corrupt or media player didn’t support the file type.

Participant(re: Sierra games changed my life!)
Dear Steve,
The same thing happened to me when I was younger. When my family brought our first computer, my father wanted me to play a game called King’s Quest I to improve my english.
My parents couldn’t believe how fast I learned a new language (I’m living in Montreal, a french speaking city in Canada) and how much energy and time I spent into the game. Everyday after school, I was so anxious to go back in the world of King Graham and to find out the magic involving around. I don’t remember how many times did I played King’s Quest but I remember the pleasure of reading and learning the legends and fairy tales. King’s Quest, Space Quest, Gold Rush, Quest for Glory, Phantasmagoria, Gabriel Knight and company became a big part of my growing up as a very curious teenager. I played all Sierra’s Games and I wasn’t disappointed everytime.
Now, I miss Sierra’s games so much… I wished that the current Sierra company could make a compilation of all the Sierra games in a CD-ROM. I want to play those games again and go back in time so I can feel the magic again.
Since the sale of Sierra, no game (but Dark Age of Camelot) hasn’t impressed me as the adventure games of Sierra. I miss King’s Quest magic, Space Quest’s craziness, Larry’s jokes, Gabriel Knight’s mysteries and so forth.
Thanks to Sierra !

Participant(re: Torins Quest ,cant save)
It’s a known issue (nasty one too), there’s a patch. Go to Sierra’s ftp site (ftp.sierra.com) and look under the PC patches for torinpat.exe
Your saves won’t work once you’ve applied it (not that it matters since your saves got corrupted anyway) but you can start this game from any chapter, so you shouldn’t have to replay *too* much.
Enjoy the game! I love Torin’s Passage… except for that bug!

My angle is only buying Sierra games to actually play them – and all the CD’s I have received have worked – so I’m happy.
Its a lot different if you’re actually collecting the games and their original boxes and materials – I can imagine it would be a frustrating experience.

Participant(re: FA: Many new sealed sierra classics for sale) One question: How many people, 10-15 years ago, purchased computer games and left them unwrapped? How many warehouses are there full of old, collectable games sitting around? I can’t believe there are that many.
I’ve been ripped off repeatedly by sellers using the same tactic – they advertise used games that have been re-shrink wrapped as new. I collect older games, but I always hold out for new games because I want pristine compact discs or floppies and all of the original material included.
Many times when I’ve purchased “new” games at sometimes inflated prices I get the game in the mail, unwrap the shrink wrap and discover a disc scratched all to hell and missing documentation. If I confront the seller I usually get one of two responses. A) He/she claims that he purchased the game from someone else and it was already shrink wrapped, or B) Tough luck.
If I leave negative feedback I either get negative feedback in return or a bogus report turned over to Ebay. One woman two years ago claimed I “threatened” her in email after I left negative feedback for selling me a repackaged game that was used. My threat, word-for-word? “If the game is not in new, pristine condition as described I will expect a refund.” Despite the fact that this woman couldn’t produce a single threatening email and refused to refund my payment when she was clearly in the wrong, Ebay sided with her and threatened to suspend me. I quit Ebay instead and didn’t use it for years.
I think many, many collectors don’t even realize this because they leave many of their collectible games in the shrinkwrap. If they actually unwrapped some of them, they’d be in for a shock.
If I purchase a game online, I make sure the seller has a clean feedback record and I make sure I protect myself through Paypal. I don’t apologize for asking questions of a seller, especially when they have a large selection of games, all new, advertised at the same time.

Participant(re: re: re: re: re: FA: Many new sealed sierra classics for sale)
I myself have never been cheated when buying games online… And I’ve bought quite a lot of games over the internet, nearly 30. Many from my own country, but also a couple from abroad.
J. Wooten: I read the page you linked to… Interesting. I think, however, I myself wouldn’t have trusted anyone writing emails like that and asking such ridiculous prices for old games.
I think I should say that I have also bought two games from a guy in Israel in the past, and they were both in perfect condition. I’m talking about Conquest of Camelot and Colonel’s Bequest here. The boxes are still in great shape, and all the extras are present, undamaged.

I’m glad you’ve had positive experiences. Mine have been horrible, and I’m not alone – see the link I included in my original post and follow the link on that page to the Infocomm collector’s page.
I try to be trustworthy, but the feedback rang alarm bells in my head. You’re probably right, though. Most likely the guy is on the level.

Participant(re: re: re: FA: Many new sealed sierra classics for sale)
They are all from the same buyer – but its a load of different PC Engine games and things that he’s bought.
You don’t seriously think he made up that other guys shop with all those elaborate Web graphics for every item so he could rip of Sierra enthusiasts for $10 games do you? It would’ve taken days to set that stuff up.
It just looks like he bought a pants-load of PC Engine stuff and the seller went in and copy and pasted all his feedbacks, as most bulk sellers would.
Its good to be cautious though – but this situation looks fine – I’ve seen lots of other sellers like that too, who do things in bulk – to save on international shipping costs.
And, saying that classic Sierra game collector’s are being preyed upon is not entirely correct – I just bought every single Sierra talkie game plus a few Dynamix games from Ebay, all in similar deals (new, sealed etc) from Israel, Holland, England and the States and every single transaction went smoothly and quickly without a problem. I would recommend this as the best way of getting Sierra CD games from my experiences.

Participant(re: QfG4 – Collection version vs. standalone) As far as concerning QfG4 versions-
The original release (Purple box, Floppies) at Dec. 93 was really a rush-release; they barely did beta-testing. A short while after they decided to do a CD-speech version. This was released less than a year after the floppy-version, a stand-alone QfG4 box (almost exactly like the Floppy box, only white) which included speech, and a Win 3.1 version; but moreover was a much stable game than the floppy version.
Later, QfG Anthology was released. The Anthology pack is really the QfG games themselves – patched correctly with all the patches – along with up-to-date documentation (including refrence to Windows 95, and programs like Mosle etc..) The QfG4 version on the collection is the CD version.
The reason that its version is 1.0 is because it was a newer interface than QfG-4 floppy.
QfG Collection is very similar to Anthology. The motive behindn its creation is the reviving of the QfG series with working underway for QfG-5. The additions is mainly the QfG-5 demo (and up-to-date Sierra installer), and some documentation updates.
So unless your buying the floppy version, you are not about to experience problems that were solved by Sierra. The thing that is left to do is to use that special patch by NewRisingSun.

It’s a shame that it is not, I grew up with the QfG and to some extent KQ games. It saddens me greatly that neither are being produced anymore.
