Participant(re: Police Quest Collection ver 2) Looks like the UK marketing division, apart from making the box a bit narrower and dropping the “over $200 value” blurb, decided to skip the manual completely and just include a 1998/99 Sierra/Blizzard software catalogue instead. I bought the collection in a store yesterday (so it wasn’t a second-hand copy), and the clerk was as surprised as I was when I asked him about it today. He did offer a refund, but I decided to see if there’s still anyone home at Sierra’s UK support address.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother paying for budget re-releases of older adventure games. In my experience they almost always manage to leave out information needed to complete the game, though usually not as blatantly as this one. 🙁

Participant(re: Photo gallery) Brandon:
Feel free to add all the photo galleries you’d like. They work fine. I have a major upgrade to them, which I should move into production sometime in the next week – but, they DO work fine now. Just add one. Let me know if you have any problems. (You add a photo gallery through Advanced Options->Add a page->Photo Gallery)
I’m waiting to put the upgrade live until I can try it on a Mac.

Participant(re: Photo gallery) I have a number of photos of Ken and Roberta as well, and I have been keeping track of the ones Ken’s posted. We will definitely get some photo galleries up. I was just waiting for Ken to work more on his photo gallery function. The last time I looked at it, I seem to recall it was broken 🙂

Brandon,
I know who you are, too.
I see a fire in Ken and Roberta’s eyes. I want to be part if it just as much as you do. I’ll give you a link to my portfolio later, right now it’s not necessary until after Ken has time to go over it. There’s my portfolio plus laurabowinvestigativereporter to go through. All the graphics I created – with a computer. I use any tool to get the job done, including Poser, because I have professional graphic design deadlines to meet. Please don’t think I’m not doing work. Just think: If you don’t have to CREATE the character, you can focus 100% on the LOOK and the EMOTE characteristics!
I’ve always had to deal with limited resources, so I know how to find a way — no matter who get’s killed (as Rudy from Colonel’s Bequest might tell you).
– B.L.
P.S. My work can be viewed at this URL but you have to be a member of LauraBowInvestigativeReporter group to see the files (search MSN.com for LauraBowInvestigativeReporter) http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/laurabowinvestigativereporter/lst?.dir=/Colonel%27s+Bequest+-+Resurrection&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/
There are two demos out, one with Laura walking around a swamp that I remade, it’s very simple but it shows all angles of the character.
Also a demo I made especially for my friends at AGDIforums. It was cool in my opinion but no one seemed to like it!

ParticipantThe point of this post is to get you excited.
In addition to the ideas you are hearing from Ken and Roberta, you will also hear ideas from the rest of the team.
It is important to listen to everyone’s ideas. Don’t you agree?
– B.L. (you can call me Elby lol — oh is that backwards?)
P.S. I added this to my list of favorites under “Colonel’s Bequest: Resurrection OFFICIAL THREAD”. It’s only on my PC that it shows up like this, but http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/laurabowinvestigativereporter/ is changing.
Laura Bow Investigative Reporter is now #1 in Google and the #1 Yahoo! Adventure Games Club! Search google for: Laura Bow Investigative
The issues and topics on Laura Bow Investigative Reporter are not related to the issue I am bringing to Ken’s attention. This is something different. It goes back to the CORE of Sierra On-Line and what that company tried to do before it was purchased (and diced).
I’m as excited as I have ever been. This is a new high that does not concern drugs or alcohol. I will now cook some Kung Pao chicken — therapy to calm the nerves. This time less Cayenne and Tabasco so the flavor comes thru.

ParticipantKen, the initials are from my real name B.L. (initials).
BTW, check out my programming portfolio. It describes the complete game. I need some guidance, as this could be your pet project, if not the game you are redesigning.
Re: my programming portfolio, if we use King’s Quest as an example, that would be great.

ParticipantIf you sent Ken an email there is no need to make a post here, especially if the only thing you have to say is that you don’t want to say anything. Ken gets many emails and so if he wishes to respond, he will do so when he has the time.

Participant(re: king’s quest series) VU Games (Sierra has now been officially closed) is not going to make a new King’s Quest game.
There is a fan group making an unofficial KQ9 game which looks VERY promising. Their website is

ParticipantI loved EcoQuest 1. I named my fish Delphineus, and it was the first game, when I was ten, to ever make me cry.
EQ2 just didn’t have the same pizaz. It was almost there, I really liked Pikita (sp?) but the ending dropped off too suddenly, the worst flaw in the game. Mysteries are never explaned, the game never truley ends. At least in EQ1 the ending was final and sweet.
I thought the friendship was better built between Del and Adam than Pikita and Adam as well.

Participant(re: Sierra Game Remakes)
I loved the remakes as well as the originals. I as well would like to see a remake of kings quest 3 and 4.

Participant(re: Has there ever been a CD Talkie of Robin Hood?) I haven’t downloaded the demo yet (so maybe the info is in a credit section), but does anyone know which voice actors worked on it?
I, too, think that LONGBOW was one of the most beautiful Sierra games, with fantastic graphics, great music and a mood that made it wonderful just to be in this world, not just to beat the game, but just to experience it – if you know what I mean. Also, there were multiple ways to solve puzzles, and even multiple endings, so I played it several times to see if there are parts which I hadn’t seen or played before.

Participant(re: Conquests of the Longbow Manual) Right-clicking on this link and selecting “Save target as…” should do the trick.

Participant(re: Gold-Rush-Problem) 1. Use “Turbo” to reduce the speed of your computer to about 20%, 2. Put up your house for sale, 3. Go to the post office and get mail. Do the rest yourself, everything in 14 minutes (not seconds)

Participant(re: Has there ever been a CD Talkie of Robin Hood?)
Well I don’t know about Longbow, but there’s a Robin Hood Legend of Sherwood…It’s all talkie (but it’s not Sierra unfortunately).
In my Longbow the option for speech is there but it doesn’t work 🙁

Participant(re: QFG1/Hero’s Quest Info) Hello,
I think that from the very beginning, there was a small lizard, which could be said to be a small dinosaur.
I played Hero’s Quest I about 13 years ago, but I do remember for sure that once you passed 1000 points of experience (which is separate from your skill points), one or more (I can’t remember the exact number) big dinosaurs appeared.
But I don’t remember encountering any dragon. Has really anyone encountered a dragon, and if yes, is this limited only to the HQ 1 version, which was an excellent game and ran quite well on my 8 Mhz Turbo PC/XT. Or perhaps one of the big dinosaurs is what you call a dragon? Now that I think of it, probably that’s it.
I learned much English from this outstanding adventure game.My greetings to all who have played the game 🙂

Near the end? I thought you could fight dinosaurs any time in the game…
