KeymasterI haven’t looked in a while, and things come and go on the web, but the last time I looked there was a ton of documentation online about our development systems. Google things like “Sierra AGI” or “Sierra SCI” or “Sierra On-Line Programming language” and you should find some very useful information.

KeymasterI’m working with a technology called “Unity” — which is awesome! I’m still learning, but am blown away by how quickly I can accomplish things…

KeymasterGreetings! I don’t really want to talk about what I’m working on .. partially because I don’t know if I’ll keep going, or decide it is too much work and bail.
That said, I am working hard. And, yes! It is an adventure game. Roberta is working with me .. but, not too much .. I’m trying to suck her in and have her heavily involved in the design.
My goal to have something worth playing (or, even demonstrating) is September 2021. I don’t know how realistic that is…

KeymasterDavid:
Neither Roberta or I play games. We probably should, and I think we’d like to, but we always seem to be busy. Roberta has spent most of the last 10 years working on a book whenever she has free time, and I’ve also stayed insanely busy. We constantly whine about our lack of free time.
One thing that has kept us busy is boating. We circumnavigated a small (68′) boat and I wrote several books on boating, plus a book about Sierra (www.kensbook.com)
And .. Roberta and I are working together on a game now!!! I don’t know how far we’ll get, but we have an idea we’re exploring.

KeymasterGreetings Sagar:
I apologize, but I can’t help you. I sold Sierra over 25 years ago and am not even sure who owns it these days. Activision, I think?

KeymasterThank you Ann!
As was said, we were lucky to have teams with amazing programmers, artists, musicians, tech writers, QA people and more. Sierra’s success had made it “the place” where the best people wanted to be. It was an incredible place to work! We miss those days.

KeymasterGreetings John –
I assume we were, or at least it looks that way in the video. Unfortunately, it has been a long time and I don’t remember.

I don’t exactly remember. My recollection is that our Mac games didn’t sell that well, and we didn’t have a programmer on staff who was passionate about the Mac. I’m trying to remember who coded the Mac games and no name is coming to mind. My guess is that the Mac version was done by one of our DOS programmers who never really liked the Mac and wanted to go back to programming a PC. Alternately, we may have outsourced it. I’m pretty sure the conversions weren’t particularly well done.

KeymasterYou didn't say what game you wanted to remake — or, I missed it.
That said .. it doesn't matter. When Roberta and I sold the company we gave up all of our rights. We were well paid, so I'm not complaining.
I have no idea who owns the rights to our games these days.
I would definitely encourage you to make a game. There is a huge market. It can be hard to break into the business, and there's a good chance whatever game you do won't sell .. but, you'll learn with each game you produce and there's nothing wrong with adding to your base of experience.
Good luck!

KeymasterSorry — I didn’t hang onto any of the source code.
I’m not sure it even exists anymore…
Good luck!

KeymasterThank you for the link!
The video brought back a lot of memories. I can’t believe we had The Sierra Network years before the internet, and then botched it up.
It still looks great, even by today’s standards…

KeymasterBrandon: I thought it was you who was with me the day I found them .. .in my garage at Alki beach.
If not you .. now I’m trying to remember who it was…

KeymasterI would love to have a hi-res scan of the cover. One probably exists somewhere .. but, I don’t have it.
I do have a box of slides from the photoshoot that are somewhere deep in my storage shed. But.. I’m not sure where. I found them a few years back and wished I had sent them somewhere to be scanned, but all I did was put them back in the box. Darn!
Those were the days!

KeymasterSorry — I agree that was a great piece of software — but, no … I don’t have any patches.
Best wishes!
