ParticipantI’ve been reading messages in the website on and off for about a year now and it always amazes me the awe people have of you Mr. Williams. I started thinking about it, and have decided to ask you:
How do you feel knowing you made it? There are over 6 billion people in this world, and maybe .00001% get the opportunity to retire rich, traveling the world in a yaht, splitting your life up living between your three homes, all acquired not by stepping on people and destroying things, but unlike the rest of that .00001% you managed to do it in a way that actually improved peoples’ lives. And not just like a remote control improves peoples’ lives but you gave something for people to look forward to. A day at school or work was terrible, but hey, at least I know I can come home and wander around a forest and find something in a tree, take my mind away from the realities that we all deal with. And you did it all before the .com boom and billions of dollars were available for anything. I don’t know, me being someone in my 20s, trying to make it in a world where it seems everything has been done, it makes me wonder what else there could possibly be. You were an inspiration, you had what it took to beat the most enormous odds, and became one of the world’s most popular software CEOs. Being someone of that magnitude is something incomprehensible to me, it seems almost surreal I guess, and very humbling even posting this message. My biggest disappoint was being born a generation too late and not getting to work in the beginnings of such an exciting industry, one that’s come and gone, but will never be duplicated. Let me know your thoughts.Chris
