I just wanted to stop in to say “thanks” to Ken and Roberta for all that they did to bring PC gaming to where it stands today. I was 8 years old when my father bought me an IBM PC Junior – one of the first personal computers. He bought me two cartridges “Basic” (bless his heart) and “Kings Quest I” (well, just called Kings Quest at the time!). I still remember the look and feel of that big plastic case it came it and moving that sprite around and trying to find the right words to unlock the next part of the game. As I grew up I learned Basic/VB and eventually C/C++ and made some cheesy games for a windows BBS system some might know called “Excalibur” (it was a big deal before the HTML “word wide web” we all know today!)
While I did not end up being a big shot game programmer I did get into web site development and today I own Cyber Creations Inc. – we operate the website MMORPG.com (http://www.mmorpg.com) and I still get to live the dream of making my living from the world of computer gaming.
Anywho…I really just stopped by to thank you guys for opening my little childish eyes to the wonder that is PC gaming, I know without a doubt that I would not be where I am today without the inspiration gained from your terrific work making “quest” games. I think I have played probably every “quest” game ever made – at least the ones under your leadership.
