ParticipantEven though I loved alomst every game that came out of Sierra during the good ol’ days I was extremely fascinated by the “Heros Quest” (Quest for Glory) titles. I have every-one in the series in theyre own boxes, and I bought the collection and the remake of the original. Anyway back to my question, what-ever happend to the creators? I know that Corey didnt work on the last sequel, but have they done anything since then?
Thanks Again,
Elias -

Participant(re: What happend to Lori and Corey Cole?) As far as I know, they tried starting another game company called Transolar (

), but it didn’t take off. They’re now at a company called Explorati (
Link: http://www.explorati.com(http://www.explorati.com)
). I hope this helps. 🙂 -

I know that Corey is programming. He gives really good advice. I asked him about game programming two years ago, he said know a little about every language (c++, java, etc) but know how to learn a language in a week. If you can pick up a language from a book in a week, if you know programming concepts, you should be all set for a job. It’s all about versatility.
Obviously, this is paraphrased and half forgotten, but that was the gist of his message. I think he and Al Lowe are my all time favorite programmers. The kind of people you just have to look up to, because they are just that damn cool.

I also posted this in the conversation area, but I thought it was appropriate to copy it here, as well:
I’m not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but Lori Cole is featured in the new issue of The Inventory, which is the online magazine (free for download) at Justadventure.com. It’s a long and interesting interview. It is located in the mid-October issue with the green cover with “Broken Saints” featured.
According to her interview, Ms. Cole is now working on a series of books based on Hero Quest, or Quest for Glory, and she would like to buy the rights to the Hero Quest/Quest for Glory games. She has a website at Howtobeahero.com.
Happy gaming,

They are living in LA, and neither is currently designing games (though Lori is looking for a design job) Lori is currently working on a book, and Corey is working on card games.
I will hopefully be meeting Corey at E3 (big game development expo), if anyone has any more questions. -

Well… if you haven’t done so, you should join Lori’s ‘How To Be a Hero’ group:
http://www.howtobeahero.com Last I saw she’s almost full time involved in that ‘project’.

ParticipantEveryone pretty much said it, but I’ll confirm:
1. Lori’s main “job” these days is running http://www.howtobeahero.com. If only we could find a way to make money from it! 🙂
2. I’ve spent the last few years developing the software behind http://www.jetsetpoker.com. If you’re over 18 and like to play poker, check it out.
3. Both of us spend huge amounts of time playing World of Warcraft. It’s the first MMORPG that managed to hook us. We rarely play D&D these days because our gaming friends are too scattered.
4. We’re in the SCA, but not very active. I do a little archery, a little folk guitar music, etc.
5. We created Transolar Games as the shell of a company, but it never really got off the ground. We couldn’t agree on a project that everyone on the team wanted to make and that we could do on a small budget.
6. Lori and I worked with Explorati for a little over a year. It had potential, but our two main clients dropped outside development after 9/11 took out their New York headquarters.– Corey

Hey Corey! I e-mailed you a few years ago about getting into game programming advice–appreciated your response. We finally made a game with Director MX called “The Cancer Game” http://www.cancergame.org
You should be eligible to join Adsense at Google (www.google.com/adsense) and you might make at least enough to pay your hosting costs. You can have less than intrusive adlinks (recommended, they’re tiny) and small, medium, or large text ads. I’ve had a lot of luck with Adsense, but it’s obviously not right for everyone.
