ParticipantIt was around the years 1987 or 1988, when I was about 7 years old. My father, who was a college professor, had just gotten a Cordata computer with a monochrome green/black display and 8086 cpu. One day, while he was showing me some MSDOS commands, he typed in CD SQ1 and then SQ1. That is when my life started to take shape. I kid you not!
Fast forward 30 years, and I still love Sierra games, but especially Space Quest. It was particularly special to me, as it was the first time I ever met the concepts of science fiction, space and adventure at the same time. Space Quest came before Star Wars or Star Trek for me. When I first saw Star Wars, I was like “Wow, that bar looks kinda like the one in Ulence Flats!”.
Since then, I also learned to code as I’ve always dreamed of making a video game that could be as fascinating as SQ was for me. I haven’t gotten around to that yet, but thanks to my ability to code, I own a 99% automated software business earning me a very nice sum without much time required. So maybe it’s time to build that game now, even though I feel I’m a little late to the game now. 🙂 I’ve also been holding a degree in Astrophysics due to my fascination with space that was mostly born out of the SQ games.
Anyway, I’m glad I found this forum by accident. And I really wanted to take the opportunity to share this quick story where you and your company had a great positive impact . A big thanks to you and all of the people at Sierra who made the SQ series and all the other adventure games possible. You’re still an inspiration and always will be for me and millions of others!
