Several of Sierra’s early VGA games were released in two seperate versions, one VGA and a seperate 16 colour EGA version.
I’ve been trying to track these games down I’ve picked up:

      King’s Quest 5 EGA
      Police Quest 3 EGA
      Space Quest 4 EGA
Space Quest 1 – Remake EGA
      Larry 1 – Remake EGA
      Larry 5 EGA

The disk one of my Larry 5 ega doesn’t work, I’m hoping someone else has a copy of this that can send me the disk, also the last disk of Police Quest 3 EGA was buggy, but I think I got the file off.

      I’m still looking for:
      Conquest of the longbow EGA
      Dr Brain EGA
      Eco Quest EGA
      Willy Beamish EGA
      Heart of China EGA
      Rise of the Dragon EGA

Are you interested in a trade, sell, or if you can’t part with them, possibly a copy of the files?

For trade, I have a few extra copies of some games, though the only quasi rare one I have is King’s quest III for the CoCo (still looking for Larry 1 for the Coco), or I can tade back files in response if you want any of the EGA versions I have (I only have one physical copy of each though)

I’m putting together a collectors site in my spare time (which isn’t much I’m afraid), concentrating on the catalogs, ads, movies, in general, and downloads of the harder to find versions of sierra games (like the ega versions I’ve listed, Kings quest 4 AGI etc, Space Quest 1 AGI with the ‘ken’ easter egg).

I’m not sure if you forgot them or that you just aren’t looking for
them, but there are some more EGA games: Hoyle’s Book of Games 3 &
Mixed-up Fairy Tales. And of course, Conquest of the Longbow, mentioned
      already by collector.

Of the EGA versions, I’m missing CotL, Dr. Brain, EcoQuest, Willy Beamish & Mixed-up Fairy Tales.

If you’re interested, contact me. I’ve got a whole bunch of versions of
games since I made this Sierra version list once. Although you seem to
have quite the collection yourself (not many people have EGA versions,
      KQ3 CoCo, etc.)

Thanks, I had missed those, I based my list on the games I have that have the ‘ega sold seperately’ sticker on them.

I’ve been pulling together what I can off the net, plus my own collection (I have a fair number), and what I can find off ebay.

I’ve been noticing that the disks are starting to go (especially ebay purchases, probably the temperature extremes of shipping), so hope to archive as many as I can before it’s too late.

Will send you an email tonight, off to work now.
      Steve.

Just got the Space Quest 1 – remake from ebay.  Sigh… disk 3 is dead, all the others are fine, my recovery tool can’t even get the files off the dead disk.

Anyone have this version that can send me a disk image of the 3rd disk?

Just out of interest, did the auctioneer inform you beforehand that the disk was faulty?

They had it listed as untested, so I took a chance.

I contacted them and they are trying to get ahold of who they got the game from to see if they made backups.

I’ve not had very good luck lately with the ega games, but many are now over 15 years old, and probably don’t hold up well to the stress of shipping.

What’s wierd is it’s consistenly only one disk, the Larry 5 EGA, the first disk, Police Quest 3 ega, the last disk (managed to recover it though using ‘bad copy’), in this case (space quest 1 remake, ega) the third disk.  Hmmm. first, middle, last, hopefully I’m done now.

Though my Space Quest 4 ega, and King’s Quest 5 ega did work ok, and I’ve imaged those.
I’m waiting on they copy of Larry 1 remake ega that I won on ebay, hope I have better luck with that.

Now, I’m just keeping an eye out on ebay to see what pops up.

I’ve only seen a few of these in action.  It would be great if someone could provide a link to a site with comparative screenshots.

Someone has already for KQ5, SQ1, and SQ4
      http://home.comcast.net/~ervind/sqscreens.html
      http://home.comcast.net/~ervind/kq5screens.html

And also several examples of changes from demos to released etc.
      http://home.comcast.net/~ervind/

I wish they had contact info on their page, they seem to have lots of variations of the games.

‘I wish they had contact info on their page, they seem to have lots of variations of the games.’

      Steve,

You may want to try sending an e-mail to ervind@comcast.net.  This site is hosted on the web space that Comcast provides to its members and, in this case, ‘ervind’ is the member name.

Thanks, I’ve tried ervind@comcast.net when I came accross the site, it didn’t bounce but no response yet, so I don’t know if they check that account.

Thanks to EBay I now have physical copies of:
      King’s Quest 5 EGA
      Space Quest 1 remake EGA
      Space Quest 4 EGA
      Leisure Suit Larry 5 EGA
Leisure Suit Larry 1 remake EGA (in transit, tested disks)
Castle of Dr. Brain EGA (in transit, tested disks)

Thanks to ashdoublev, I got the files I was missing for Larry 5, and Space Quest 1 (bad disks)
So I have (or soon will, cross fingers for those in transit) binary copies of all the above, plus

Rise of the Dragon EGA (thanks)
      Heart of China EGA (thanks)
Jones in the Fast Lane (thanks)

      Still missing
      Conquest of the Longbow
      EcoQuest 1
      Mixed-up Fairy Tales
Hoyle’s Book of Games Vol. 3.

Collector, I’m really interested in getting Conquest of the Long Bow.

If you have any of these, please send a message to realitystorm@sympatico.ca attn: Sierra Games (so I can see it in a sea of spam)

The guy who runs the Comcast page can be found at the adventuregamers.com forums, look for ATMachine.

Now, about those Color Computer versions – I never seen them mentioned anywhere… is it possible to download disk images of them to load under an emulator? Or are there at least screenshots?

I have 2 copies of KQ3 for the coco, and a disk image of the game (will scan a box sometime soon)

I’m still looking for a copy of Larry 1 for the coco.

And thanks for the info on ATM, I’ve sent an email but no answer, will try posting on the forum.

      Thanks.
      Steve.

Hmmm… the screenshots look like the regular PC versions. I think that someone should notify Moby Games about these!

Any chance you’ll uplaod the KQ3 image?

By the way, ATMachine usually answers private messages, you can try that.
