I’m wondering if Ken (or any other former Sierra employee who might be reading this) could give some details about how work of graphic artists in the company was organized. Was there a library with reference materials (such as photos, book illustrations, fine art, etc.)? Was stuff like conceptual sketches for games kept on file, or was it thrown into the trash once the game was out?
I think a “Sierra Art Book” could have been such a great item to own… -
Much game art was kept in a storage locker – a locker that, when Sierra closed, was pilfered by artists. Other art in that locker was also thrown away – again, some rescued by individuals. Part of the archival activities currently in progress consists of trying to find as much artwork as possible (as well as other things you mention, such as photos), through the collections of fans who have happened to acquire it or from former Sierra employees, and scanning it in very high quality so that we can put together a master collection of original Sierra artwork that eventually everyone will be able to enjoy.

Unfortunately, I’ve only seen Sierra art on eBay, and sold by a greedy guy who literally said (when I asked him) that he only cared about getting the highest bid price, not Sierra archving.
Though I did hear from some Sierra artist who said he’d found artwork in a garbage bin outside the company when he left.
