Just yesterday, I ordered something called the M3DS Real for my girlfriend’s Nintendo DS.  With it, I’ll be able to download and play any and all commercial and homebrew DS and GBA roms on it.  Why am I doing this, you ask?  It’s because 2 days before Christmas, someone broke into our house and stole  ALL of my DS games (nearly 20 of them), my DS, my PS2, ALL of my PS2 games (over 35 of them), most of my PSP games (I have since bought back all but two of them), a computer that was only a couple months old (thus the reason I’m using my old laptop), a TV, numerous pieces of electronics, and so on.  All told, they stole over $16,000 worth of stuff (all of it pawnable, too).  Very merry Christmas, huh? (we were living in Columbus,Ohio at the time; less than a month later, we moved back to New Albany, IN)  Thank god I had taken my laptop, 60GB PS3, MP3 player, Wii, PSP, all my Wii games, all my PS3 games, and a few of my PSP games with me when we visited my parents, or I would’ve been very, very…well, you can guess. 🙂  In any case, I ordered this device mainly so I could download those DS games of mine that were stolen and play them on my girlfriend’s DS without having to spend a lot of money to buy them back.  It’s capable of playing homebrew, too, which got me to thinking (and thus, the main purpose of this post)…

There’s supposed to be a version of ScummVM (homebrew, of course) for the DS.  If I recall correctly, ScummVM is supposed to be able to play some of the old Sierra games.  If so, that means I might be able to play old Sierra games on my DS. 🙂  I wish there was a version of DOSBox for the DS, but I’ll be happy with this in the meantime.  I’m very, very curious as to what the interface will be like and how the games will run on the DS.  For anyone curious about it, I’ll have to write back once I’ve given it a shot. 🙂

I’ve got ScummVMDS on my R4 card, and it’s really easy to set up and use.  It does play some old Sierra games, but by old that means REALLY old – only the AGI games.  The interface is a bit difficult on the DS, since tapping keys with the stick is much much slower than actually typing on a keyboard, but it’s still nice to have the games on a handheld device anyhow.  The Lucasarts games are great, though.  Only one hasn’t worked right for me so far and that was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Now, speaking of AGI Sierra games, I’m DYING to get my hands on that rare AGI version of KQ4 to put on this thing, but of course I can’t find it anywhere.  The SCI version won’t work, unfortunately.
