Here are e few questions: We are a investment company in the US, and we are looking into obtaing the rights for the following games from vivendi sierra: Leisure suit larry, space quest, king’s quest and police Quest. if we can manage to obtain those rights we would like to put them on the market again only if we can get at least 75% of the original designers, al lowe . scott murphy etc. etc. our question are as follow
would there be a interest in those games?
would the designers say yes into designing at least 1 new game?
We hope through this board we can get a good estimate and maybe reactions from the designer so we can get in contact
and is it maybe possible to poll this on this site?

      Sincerely,
      DH

(re: Retro the old sierra) There currently isn’t a way to poll on this board. I’ve got the code to do it, but haven’t hooked it up yet. My guess is that it will be another month before I have it installed. I’ll look around to see if there is some simple polling software that I could hook up short-term.
Good luck with your project! I hope it goes.

(Is this the reaction????) I just read the “Retro the old sierra” – message, and I was like “Oh Gosh, now this is a f*** good message!!!”, just what the whole passionate Sierra-Revival community has been screaming for on houndreds of forum pages. And then I whent on to read the hysterical reaction I expected to find further on – But apparently nobody here actually cares. I mean, isn’t this the one chance all of us, or at least I, have been praying for every single time we entered this site?? Or did I get something completely wrong?
Somebody please tell me, if there is an essential point I missed, otherwise, go and tell the world what you want!

(re: Is this the reaction????) well, people have been voicing a desire to do this since sierra changed hands in the 90s. it’s too early to know if anything will come of it.
i try not to let myself get excited about things until i know there’s something to be excited about. 🙂

(re: re: Is this the reaction????) I’m behind a Sierra resurection any day. Just tell me what day I can pick up QFG6, KQ9, and SPQ7 at Best Buy, and I’ll be there in line at midnight, cash in hand, waiting for the doors to open.

(re: re: re: Is this the reaction????) Well, I guess it really is to early to get really excited about things, but I believe that it is about time for us to prove what the Sierra comunity is worth. All of those petitions and aggressive writings to the Sierra headquarters and the fuss on this web site have found a listening ear at last!
Basically what I wanted to say was that I was rather surprised to read endless threads about some bug in QFG something bla, but then a brief response by Ken turned out to be the only reaction to that, what in my view may be the greatest news since those about Jane Jensen’s new game being in development.
This is why I think we should at least try to find out what we can do in order to support those plans and then do our very best to make it happen! Otherwise everything this site is about would lose it’s substance and it would turn to a dusty collection of empty words…. sounds rather sad to me!

Yes – I would certainly buy them, if they remain adventure games and are fairly faithful to the original.

You may have trouble getting them from Vivendi, though.

You also may have trouble getting the developers back.

Could you provide more details? Do you have a Web site?

      Thanks.

(re: re: Retro the old sierra) okay as far of the postings regarding retro old sierra:
What were looking for is as following:
      * would you buy a new adventure game regarding one ofthese adventures?
      * if so wich one?
      * what would you like to see in it (ex. a point to click interface or a text typing interface (our favorit))
*and for Ken Williams, Roberta Williams, Al lowe, Marc crowe and Scott murphy would you be interested (for the right money) to do one?
(if anybody around here know those people in person please let them now and respond)
So if we get the feeling of you that a lot of people are waiting for these games, we then take the next step and trying to negotiate and buy the rights from vivendi (if the price is right for them, they will sell…why not collect money for something you don’t use anymore?)
If the interest in these games is right, and the designers say that they will consider and talk to us and we can agree, then the next step is here.
What do we want: simple! reform the former design group put them in a new company and give them the tools (money) to do another game! it’s that simple but…. for example, we read interviews on the web too, and for example is marc crowe (who works for game company, or he own’s it) will do another game with scott murphy.. anyway this is how clear as it can be for now and hopefully you guys will help trying to get the designers to do this or at least consider it..

      we hope for your support,

      Sincerely,

      DH

(re: re: re: Retro the old sierra) Perhaps it might be a good idea to create an e-mail adress where people can post their individual answers to the questions. The adventage would be that other sites could be involved easier. Just an idea

Not really. I was wary since the first post since I usually expect people who had business training to be proficient in spelling and grammar. I can’t help but find it hard to believe.

(re: re: re: re: re: re: Retro the old sierra) So it’s your belief that if you had training and proper spelling then YOUR the man?!? get real here. the whole bus. thing is made complicated and lawyer like by stupid educations like you refer. the whole thing is based one one thing in transaction, it’s either yes or no, that people like you think otherwise is your loss not ours. but this board is not meant to discuss this i believe it’s meant for sierra fans. so tell me what do you lose from this? there might be a option to see the old sierra games one more time, or not… so again tell me, what holds you back in telling what you want to see? or is it , that if it’s no, you got hurt in your feelings and it will take you alt least 3 years to get over it?? i don’t think so, so please let’s end this dumb discussion.

      sincerely,

      MH

Not a problem. I’m not the business expert. It was just an opinion. I apologize for upsetting you. It wasn’t my intention.
