Hello. As the title of this post
suggests, I am seeking volunteers to participate in an electronic
interview. The subject of this interview will be you experiences with
home computers and gaming (esp. Sierra) in the 1980s and 1990s.I am a Ph.D. student at a reputable
U.S. public university. For the sake of privacy (limited though it is in the internet), I am not posting my
personal credentials here; if you email me, I will provide you with
full disclosure: my name, affiliation, links to colleagues and
contacts, my C.V., etc. I will also inform you of your rights as an
interviewee. My graduate work is focused on
histories of women and technology, as well as histories of popular
culture and domestic technologies. I am particularly drawn toward the
the history of the 1980s, when the computer became “personal” and
entered the home. Personal histories, compiled through interviews,
are an important way of grasping this history on the level of
individual experience.I am interested in interviewing any
individuals who played Sierra games in the 1980s and 1990s, but I am
especially interested in speaking with any female gamers or computer
users. If you would like to learn more about
this project, please email me at projectsierrahistory@gmail.com.
Feel free to distribute this call for interviews to any friends or
family who may be interested in participating.Thank you in advance for any
consideration you offer.-LN
