      Mr. Williams –

It’s an honor to be able to converse with you via the internet. I grew up playing Sierra games. My father and I started with Ulysses and the Golden Fleece when I was 7 or 8 and I think I finally ended up getting through one of the later King’s Quest games twenty years later. King’s Quest, Black Cauldron, Space Quest, etc… Many a fond memory I have of solving puzzles late into the night. I’m now 31 years old and a high school teacher. I pity my students for the games of today simply don’t have the depth or imagination of those from the bygone era. Thank you to you and your wife for all of your hard work over the years. There was nothing more exciting than receiving the Sierra Newsletter or the new catalog at my house. I even have an individualized typed letter from someone at On-Line in response to a request for game hints for Ulysses in the early 80’s. You guys have always been the best.

One chapter (or paragraph) of the Sierra history that has always fascinated me was the (brief) relationship you had with the Ultima series. I believe Sierra published Ultima II before Richard Garriott formed Origin Systems? Are you able to offer any insight on perhaps how close you and Richard were – or whether there was ever a chance for the corporate relationship to grow into something longer than it was?

Thank you again for your time in reading this letter. Again – some very fond memories of your software!
