I am interested in the Interaction/Sierra Memorabilia CD Project. I was wondering how we would be able to order a CD when available. I am sorry if this is too soon, I just wanted to ensure that I could purchase one when available. Thank you.

I have not heard from Brad, who had assumed responsibility for this project, for some time. Last I heard, he was very busy with work, but was negotiating a price with a guy from Kinko’s to contract the job out, and then to have Ken approve the price. I don’t think that ever happened. Besides Ken, I think Brad has the most complete collection of magazines. He did upload one test issue already to this site, you’ll find it in a post in this area. If we don’t hear from him anytime soon, when I’m free from university during the summer I’ll have lots of time to do work for this site, and that will include doing Interaction Magazine / Sierra Newsletter scans.

I believe you when you say you would do the scans – but it’s a LOT of work. As I know well – a lot of work doesn’t scare you.
See if you can find a way to subcontract this work somewhere in Vancouver, and what it would cost. Within reason, I’ll pay it. The key issue is to scan at a compromise resolution, such that the result can fit on a reasonable number of CDs.
The market for these CDs isn’t big — I doubt that more that a hundred would sell – even at $29. You are welcome to this money if you can get it. Even with outsourced scanning, there will be a lot of work to do to assemble the CD.

If extra help was needed, I can provide some assistance in the form of layout – I have a degree in Graphic Design and extensive experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark. Since the goal is probably to make this an interactive CD, you would also need someone who is familiar with Flash (most economical way to my knowledge for creating interactive CD’s).

While I don’t know Flash, I’m pretty sure someone else on this board might…

I can also assist in CD burning. If demand is reasonable, I can pop out 100 CD’s a day and all they would need is a good CD label to make it look professional. I can assist in the design of the label as well as the jewel-case artwork (front and back).

Just shoot me an email if I can help. 😉

This could be a team effort. I have a few Sierra Magazines and InterAction magazines lying around in excellent condition that I am willing to scan. I’m sure others do to.

It’s a lot of work, true, but if there’s enough people doing it, it shouldn’t be a big deal…

(re: re: Interaction Magazine Archive UPDATE!) Adam,
I was sorry to re-read about the pipes ruining all your stuff. When I was going through old messages to alert everyone about the update on the project I was thinking to myself how I wish those pipes hadn’t gone bad. So what happened to that box of stuff? Did it get tossed I guess – you could have probably salvaged the T-shirts. Anyway I guess there is no use crying over spilled milk.
We will be entering the design process soon after the production on the scans has started (should be the first of next week for the scanning) and be working on CD cover, CD label, and interface. It looks like it will most likely be a 2-CD set in the end. I have some ideas that I am going to be persuing, but am open to other ideas and suggestions. All the designs will be posted here before anything is made final.
      Thanks for your comments!
      -Brad
