      I was recently playing through space quest five when I noticed something strange. In the scene were the gremlin alien thing messes up Roger’s test results result in him becoming a captain there a three names on the screen: (in this order) Gordon F. -Failed, Albert E. -Failed, Roger W. -Processing. Anybody can tell that Albert E. is Einstein, but could Gordon F. be Gordon Freeman? Dis the guys at valve put in a hidden homage to Space Quest in their making of Half-Life? Or is it just an extremely uncanny fluke?

      Tell me what you guys think. I have a screenshot but I don’t know how to put it up.
      Found out how to add an image… so here it is.

      Possibly, but i would think that would be Flash G. not Gordon F. I still prefer my interpretation but yours could very well be right. Thanks for the input.

      They’re all “Last name, Initial”

      Einstein, A — Albert Einstein
      Wilco, R — Roger Wilco
      Gordon, F — Flash Gordon
      Freeman, G — Gordon Freeman

      BTW, you mixed up the title of this thread a little. It’s not an SQ reference in HL, but would be a HL reference in SQ.

      Besides, SQV is five years older than HL. Why would anyone include a reference to a game that won’t be released for another 5 years? Nobody would get it.

      Ah, you mean “Gordon Freeman” in HL would be a reference to that small in-joke in SQ? Not very likely, but okay.
