      Hi everyone
PQ fans – i have a question for you
i just recently purchased a the PQ Collection ver2
the one with SWAT in it, i got it from eBay from a US seller but the box was form the UK release. It came sealed but to my surprise it had no manual in it,there were only the 98/99 Game Catalog and the Registration card so i thought the manuals are on the CDs in file format, but thats not the case so now i feel cheated for biding on that “sealed Box”
Has enyone here on these forums ever bought a PQ Collection ver2 in Eur/UK release and had no manual?
How can i find out the exact contents of the Game Pack?
Is the copy protection on the games removed just for the
      Collection version?

      Any thoughts…

PS I checked in PQ1 Remake and the copy protection is there and the code that worked was the one from this site in the PQ Museum scans.

as far as i know, these games were released with copy protection. i have this version of the collection too (got it used at a thrift store) and the copy protection is in place for PQ2 (the only one i’ve played off that CD). i’m glad the code from the PQ1 remake worked for you, others have said that those codes didn’t work for the collection.

the link below has manuals / copy protection for games 2 and 3 for download.

      Hi Peter,
That’s the problem when buying through eBay- you can’t guaruntee you’ll get what you want; but you CAN leave a negative reply to the seller, and notify eBay management.
[don’t doubt the fact that there was a manual; the difference between US and European (UK) release is not great)

You can get manuals from http://www.replacementdocs.com – this website holds PDF copies of manuals.

I hope some PQ fans that have the collection will read this and will supply you with the exact contents of the original box.

      Good luck!

      -Eyal

(re: Police Quest Collection ver 2) Hi,
I own the “Collection Series” edition of Police Quest. It’s in a wide box with lift up front flap and has a “over $200 value” graphic on the front right. Games include PQ1,2,3,4 and SWAT.
Anyways, all Sierra did with this – bless their marketing division 🙂 – was throw in the CD and manual from the previous PQ collection (entitled The Police Quest Collection – The 4 Most Wanted) together with the 4*CD set of Police Quest SWAT.
As for the manual, it only covers the first 4 games (obviously given my previous comment!) and is a half letter sized glue bound book of 228 pages.
Was the item sealed properly or made to look like it was sealed (i.e. had been resealed)? Perhaps the seller didn’t know the manual was missing?

I got one that was in a dark green box, and was called “SWAT Career Pack.” It came with 1-4, plus SWAT 1&2, plus a demo of Swat 3. Green discs with yellow lettering. I think it also had a trailer of Swat 2, an interactive questioneer for the person responsible of thinking of Police Quest, former police chief Daryl F. Gates. I also think that there was more, but Im a bit absent minded today.

If you want to buy the manuals for the collection version i´ve seen them several times at a great online bookstore called alibris.com, i´ve seen both manuals that came with collection (US version), the 4 Most Wanted and the SWAT manual.

I’ve had this problem with a sealed copy of the PQ Collection too. Both me and a friend bought a new & sealed copy at a store here in the Netherlands and both collections didn’t contain the manual. I first emailed Sierra’s customer service and they told me to send them a letter with copies of my receipt & CD’s, so I did. I wasn’t expecting anything but a couple of weeks later I received 2 manuals. Now that’s service!

Thanks to all of the replying people i got a hold of those manuals.I guess that’s something that happend in europe like the post below – they came without manuals cause i’m 100 pecent sure that the item i bought on e-bay had factory seal-shrinkwrapping.

I have the “4 Most Wanted” compilation. It has PQ I-IV and came with a compact trade-paperback sized manual that had the manuals for PQ I-IV… It also had lots of neat things like an abridged version of the LAPD Manual. The binding was a bit cheap, but I still find it to be interesting reading.

(re: Police Quest Collection ver 2) Looks like the UK marketing division, apart from making the box a bit narrower and dropping the “over $200 value” blurb, decided to skip the manual completely and just include a 1998/99 Sierra/Blizzard software catalogue instead. I bought the collection in a store yesterday (so it wasn’t a second-hand copy), and the clerk was as surprised as I was when I asked him about it today. He did offer a refund, but I decided to see if there’s still anyone home at Sierra’s UK support address.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother paying for budget re-releases of older adventure games. In my experience they almost always manage to leave out information needed to complete the game, though usually not as blatantly as this one. 🙁
