ParticipantHi Ken, I’ve noticed something strange yesterday and today. This has happened a few times.
If I leave the site and then come back sometime later, the page I was viewing when I left is displayed instead of the main page. Also, the left menu is displaying with the old red balls, instead of the new “button style” links.
If I click links, they stay the red ball style even as I navigate to new pages. If I refresh, the red balls go away and the button style menu comes back.
I am using a Mac running OS 9.0.1, IE 5.1.4. A few weeks ago I changed my cookie settings (but I didn’t notice this bug until yesterday) — I now have the browser prompt me before accepting a cookie. I accept cookies for this site, though. (See the picture below.) And, I cleared out all cookies before changing this setting a few weeks ago… so I’d be surprised if this red ball style menu was sitting around on my computer somewhere.
Anyway, hope that all made sense…

ps ackkk! Tried the “photo gallery” feature for the first time and got this error message:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error ‘800a000b’
Division by zero
/photoGallery.asp, line 54
I was editing the message when I tried it… could that have anything to do with it?

Wow!!! I’ve never heard of such a thing …
I’m leaving for a flight in about an hour – so, I can’t tangle with it now. Maybe when I get to Europe.
Most likely, it’s related to the cache on your browser. I’d try clearing the cache to see what happens. I did just make a lot of changes in the Mac-related code, so maybe I broke something.
I’ll check back with you tomorrow (assuming I can find an internet cafe)

Heh, sorry to spring it on you right before you left!
I wasn’t able to empty my cache (kept getting a message that I couldn’t delete items in use, even after I shut down IE), but I figured out a little bit more about the problem. In my favorites, I have this URL bookmarked:
http://www.sierragamers.com/MainFrame.asp
When I start up IE and go to the favorite, I’m automatically redirected to http://www.sierragamers.com/newMainFrame.asp
However, if I navigate away from the site and then back to it (using the favorite), I’m taken to MainFrame.asp and am not redirected. Once I shut down IE and start it again, the favorite redirects me to newMainFrame.asp
Clearly, I could fix this by updating my favorite (grin), but maybe it’s indicative of other problems with pages not refreshing/redirecting correctly? I have had this URL in my favorites for months, and only started having this problem this week.

ps I was mistaken when I said before that refreshing the browser got rid of the old layout. It doesn’t. But if I type http://www.sierragamers.com into the address bar, it brings me back to newMainFrame.asp

A similar thing happened to me when I had newMainFrame.asp bookmarked. I’m on a pc, and instead of the site popping up at all, an error message popped up.

I’m at the airport waiting to catch a flight – I can’t believe it, but I powered on my laptop and the wireless card immediately had me surfing.
I’ll check into this on the plane. I am aware that the link that gets recorded when someone selects “add to favorites” is no good. I’ll look for a way to code around it.

Participant(re: old layout showing up… maybe cookie related?) just tried it on my PC (which has a favorite to the same URL) and, lo and behold, had the same problem. So it’s not just a Mac issue. I am using IE6, running WinXP.
