ParticipantHi there, everyone!
Wow! I just stumbled across this great site! Fantasitic to find out what everyone’s doing after all these years of wondering. A sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved in making these wonderful games which brought – and indeed continue to bring – so much joy.
Just one query, though. How come there’s no Manhunter section? I know it wasn’t as popular as KQ, SQ, QFG, etc. but it was one of my favourite series and was pretty darn revolutionary for its time. Still, I feel its pretty poorly represented on the Internet as a whole.
Cheers, Banjo -

Participant(re: Manhunter section?) I just created the Manhunter section – and you are the first message in it!

Participant(re: Manhunter section?) Manhunter’s a pretty cool game. Doesn’t it take place in 2003? 🙂
You know, I even asked my mother to make one of those Manhunter Monk robes for me. Gotta love Sierra look-a-likes. -

Participant(Manhunter website) Hi everyone!
Hey, I was thinking pretty strongly about making a Manhunter website, since the games have so little representation on the Internet. There’s plenty of SQ, KQ and QFG sites but no MH ones.
I was therefore curious, if anyone would be interested in a Manhunter site before I go to all the trouble (if I’m the only Manhunter fan out there, I needn’t bother, eh?). If I’m NOT alone, what sort of stuff would other fans like to see on the site? Let me know!
Cheers,
Banjo -

Participant(re: Manhunter website) Great idea! there is’nt too much info about that great series. 🙂
You could make a website with all the tricks, easter eggs and solutions of the games. Differences between versions, boxarts, manuals, screenshots, interviews with the authors.. something like te SpaceQuest.net but about Manhunter!
Go on and good luck with such a nice project! 🙂 -

Participant(re: Manhunter website) Let me know if you would like to use the software for this site to run your Manhunter site – I’ll set you up for free.

Participant(re: re: Manhunter website (thanks!)) Wow! Thanks for the kind offer; your help would be VERY welcome, Ken.
Just let me know what the next step from here is, since I’m pretty website illiterate! Even with my woeful skills, however, I’d love to help introduce more Sierra fans to the oft-overlooked world of Orb oppression, killer robots and trendy brown robes!
Ken, let me also take this opportunity to give my heartfelt thanks for all that you, Roberta, and everyone else from the “glory days” of Sierra have given to the world, and the joy you brought to me. As many on this site will attest, together you made many a life that little bit brighter.
Cheers,

Participant(re: re: re: Manhunter website (thanks!)) Banjo:
The software that runs this message board/website is meant to be kind of a generic “website construction set”. It’s early in development, but as you can see, it works fine even though it’s missing lots of features (that I’m busily coding).
Go to http://www.talkspot.com there you will see that you can easily build your own website. Don’t worry – I won’t charge you anything. There are currently no manuals or tutorials for the system, which complicates things. I contracted someone to write those, but they haven’t gotten started yet. Email me from time to time as you get stuck, and I’ll get you going again.
Good luck!

Ken, did you know that the Talkspot site can only be accessed if you have cookies enabled? Was that intentional? (When I try to go there with cookies turned off, I just get a ‘page cannot be found’ error… the average user probably won’t realize what the problem is and will think your site is down.)
I know you just said you have contracted with someone to write documentation for your software… I just wanted to mention that I am a professional writer. I specialize in distilling high-level information (i.e., how to build a website) for low-level audiences. I have experience writing software documentation and tutorials. If you’re going to need more help, feel free to shoot me an email —fov@yahoo.com

Participant(re: re: Talkspot) Emily:
I just discovered the cookies issue last week. I’m working on a fix for it now. It’s not a simple fix, but I should have it by Monday.
I spoke with the tech writer today, and he has started work.
Thank you,

I’d say go for it. The more representation these games have the better. -

Participant(Manhunter Memories) Hi there!
Ok, so at least a few people think it’s a good idea! Any other manhunter fans out there?
At any rate, I’m going to go for it, and get a Manhunter site up and running. It may take a while, but hopefully it’ll be pretty cool!
I’ve got a good idea of what i want to do with the site, but anyone’s suggestions are more than welcome. You can post here or email me at
Link: banjo_oz@hotmail.com(mailto:banjo_oz@hotmail.com)
if you’ve got something you’d like to send me or just want to chat about the idea.
Cheers,
Banjo
P.S. I’ve attached my ‘first draft’ of the montage image I made for the home page (just to show I’m not just blowin’ smoke here in my intentions)!so it doesn’t take up too much space) of the first image I’ve made for a Manhunter website.

Participant(re: Manhunter section?) A Manhunter-section would be much appreciated! Personally I think it was a revolutionary game for it’s time, one that deserved to have a sequel in VGA. Can you imagine all the rotten corpses in 256 colours, :-).
A fan-sequel anyone? I know when our own Manhunter darted off into space there was mention of a Manhunter: London on one of the San Francisco Cable Cars. Wouldn’t that be sweet.CaptAmeriK@

Participant(re: Manhunter section?) Alright, I removed the Manhunter Museum since it wasn’t getting any attention and moved this post into the Manhunter Chat, where there is more activity (I may do some further weeding of this post as well). Anything Manhunter Museum related can go into the “All Other Games Museum.”
Hey Banjo, any update on your idea for a Manhunter website? I borrowed your image to use it for this chat area, hope you don’t mind! -

ParticipantHi Brandon! (and other fellow Manhunter fans too)
I’ve been a looooong time away from the net but as I got a new PC and got online today, I was curious to check out this neat site once again. Even though Manhunter fans (or even those who’ve heard of the games!) seem few and far between, I’m still toying with the idea of a fansite one day… made quite a few bits and bobs for it (gifs and stuff) and even started a silly little fan game (Day of Invasion). But I do kinda feel the interest in Manhunter is sort of slim… 🙁
Still, if there are Manhunter fans still around, maybe he site idea shouldn’t be left to die after all?
Cheers,
BanjoPS You mentioned something about my pic?

ParticipantI think that was probably when this site had header images for each area of the message board… a long time ago! Work is being done on an all-inclusive Sierra site, that we can eventually put Manhunter stuff into along with all the other Sierra games. In the meantime, fan sites are still always great things to do!
