ParticipantKen,
I was trying out a fan made installer for Phantasmagoria to run under winxp. Which worked flawlessly by the way. Any way I came accross a Making of Phatasmagoria clip. I was wondering where the clip came from? If you dont know maybe Roberta might.

ParticipantIt’s a great video. I’ve also got a copy. I think we made it to send out to dealers for promoting the game, and to the sales force.
I’m heading out of the country (as usual) .. when I get back, in a week, I’ll work on uploading it here.

ParticipantSounds good, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.

ParticipantYes, that’s the one, very nice. But it would be great if Ken would still have some uncompressed movies. Most of the movies on various Sierra games have a very poor quality (though understandable of course for that time).

ParticipantOh Ok thanks for the Response Ken. and that would be great thanks Ken. and the one posted isnt the one I mean. The one I mean shows Roberta explaining how she came up with the story for the game.
heres the link

ParticipantI see, you are right! Thanks for the link. Pity that it is again such low quality. I checked the site and I understand this is a Real Video conversion of the Sierra deluxe 30 MB (!) version of the Making of Phantasmagoria. Does somebody knows the source of this video (was it included on a Sierra CD?), or what “Sierra deluxe” means?

ParticipantSorry, if I get this wrong but with the internet restrictions I cannot view the clips. I have a clip from Roberta Williams Anthology that has Roberta talking about Phantamagoria. I think it starts out with ‘Are we filming? Hi, my name is Roberta Williams’ She talks about how she is a horror fan and that alot of the times the character in the games are female. Is this the one your looking for.

ParticipantI’m still in Taiwan, but will work on uploading videos as soon as I get home (to see what I’m up to here, check out: http://www.nordhavn68.com)
Does anyone know of somewhere I can upload video cheaply (or, best of all for free)? I’m worried that if I upload the uncompressed versions of the videos all of you will clobber my bandwidth downloading them.

ParticipantThanks for the update link. For the video, try http://www.photobucket.com . It’s free. 🙂

ParticipantmxCoder: in the RWA clip (Roberta.avi, “Are we filming”) indeed some shots from Phantasmagoria are shown, but it isn’t the same clip as in the url that fender_17@alltel.net mentioned below.

ParticipantWow, Ken, the construction is comming along very nicely. You and Roberta must be aching to go on your next trip!

ParticipantKen,
There is, of course, video.google.com, but they do have the no copyrighted material stipulation. Of course, there is tons of stuff that gets uploaded such as fan music videos (music by a band with video footage put together by the fan) and other such things that blur the line on what is uploaded that is copyrighted. So, especially since what you’ll be uploading is so old, you may not run into any problems with it.

ParticipantAnd ofcourse we also have the now infamous http://www.youtube.com
And like Brandom already mentioned I don’t think you’ll run into a lot of copyright problems because I think the video will be viewed as a game trailer…
The video was shipped with the first release of King’s Quest 7. At the time I kinda regarded it as a game (teaser) trailer. Don’t know if KQ 7 2.0 was shipped with the video…
You can download the 18 MB version in: Sierra Museum >> Phantasmagoria Museum >> Phantasmagoria music and trailers

ParticipantF.Y.I.
‘On October 9, Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music, and YouTube, the number one website for sharing original videos online – with more than 100 million individual visitors per day – announced an agreement giving YouTube and its users access to thousands of videos by of all genres. YouTube and UMG have developed a process to protect the copyrights of UMG artists using filters to block the downloading of pirated content.’
This came from Vivendi’s we site. It might not be a good choice to use YouTube. -

ParticipantThe KO VII CD-Rom included indeed the trailer of Phantasmagoria, but the original poster referred to the “making of” video, which is much more interesting (see the link he mentioned). I hope Ken still has that one, preferably uncompressed.
I do not know if the suggestions about YouTube or video.google.com are as interesting as the one about photobucket.com; at least I see many videos there that are too heavy compressed.
See for instance this “ within the beast within”, a behind the scenes of GK 2:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7205164237621477726&q=within+the+beast+within
It’s horribly compressed. Btw, I have no idea what its source is, perhaps someone knows?
Another great site to upload big files for a certain period is: http://www.yousendit.com/
