ParticipantI scoured the boards and found nothing on this, so I’m posting hoping someone can help me.
I recently purchased LSL6 Talkie (non-collection disc version). Using XP’s compatibility for older systems (as posted by Ken Williams), I was able to install the game and run it from Windows (extended midi). Now, the game runs fine except when I encounter a point where there’s a close-up of a small item on the main screen (i.e. scoping the matches on the bar or the maid’s buggie). The narrator or Larry will talk about the item, and I will encounter “waveOutunpreparedheader: An invalid parameter was passed to a system function.” and the game will essentially crash (I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del the program to end the constant popping-up of this error. When I try to run the game again, it tries to load up but shows “Application Error: SIERRAW caused a General Protection Fault in module KRNL386.exe at 0001:A023. Choose Close. SIERRAW will close.” The game will not run unless I reset the machine.
Is there a patch to fix this or a configuration means to fix this? I do not wish to run the game via DOSBox because the game runs too slow (and too much tweaking to even try to run it like DOS). Any help would be appreciated. If you need anymore info, let me know and I will happily provide.

Participantomg I had a similar problem – whenever I’d go to the maid’s cart, It would give me an error, I clicked OK and it came up again. I kept clicking it away. I think I used VDMS. I forget what error it was.
Try looking at Al Lowe’s website:
http://www.allowe.com/Larry/troubleshooting.htm You might need to change some things in the Resource.win file. (??) Sorry, I wish I could be more help, it’s been a while since I played it.

ParticipantSorry, couldn’t find the problem. But thanks for letting me know it’s not isolated to me, and that there is a way to fix it.
If anyone can think of something, I would really appreciate it.
