      Hi,
A while back there was a thread here about the LSL movie and there was some talk about who would be the perfect actor to play Larry. (I couldn’t find the thread, so I’m starting a new one). Anyhow, today, while watching TV, I saw the perfect actor to play Larry. He’s an Israeli comedian (I live in Israel), and looks just like Larry. His name is Dooby Gal. I’ll add a picture (with his daughter – the best I could find on the net), to convince you.

A picture of Israeli actor Dooby Gal with his daughter.

(re: LSL movie) Well, I’m not sure… Maybe it’s the glasses and moustache, but this guy doesn’t look to larry-like to me… Maybe I should see him in a Leisure Suit. 🙂
      The nose is good, though.

(re: LSL movie) Many people, including Al Lowe, has mentioned Rob Schneider. You know, that guy who does comedies like “Hot Chick” and “Deuce Bilalow: Male Gigolo”. As much as many of his comedies suck (being filled with juvenile jokes that are just embarrasing) he’s SOO much like Larry. And besides, if not done totally wrong, I wouldn’t mind a Larry comedy to be in the style of his movies at all.
Here’s my dream scenario. Make a Larry movie starring him and base it on the second game in the series. It is the one best suited to make into a movie script. It would be sort of a Bond spoof. Wouldn’t that be great!?

Here’s an interesting bit of history:
About 10 or so years ago, Disney approached me to buy the rights to Larry for a movie. Apparently they wanted to pitch Jim Carrey about being Larry. After a tough negotiation we signed on the dotted line – and, nothing happened. Carrey passed on the project, and Disney let their deal lapse after sitting on the rights for about 5 years.
After the sale of Sierra, I wanted to do a Larry film, and tried to buy the rights. Several successive regimes at Sierra agreed to sell me the rights, and none followed through. It has been frustrating dealing with them.

(re: re: LSL movie) LOL. Dooby Gal is a dead ringer for Larry Laffer.
But seriously, I hope they don’t make a Leisure Suit Larry movie. Not for the sake that if it is juvenile and bad it will soil his reputation, but for the mere fact I want to make the film… Can you hold out for a few years while I finish film school? 😉

I like the hair, and the nose, but (this is not an insult to race) having him as larry wouldn’t feel right because of his probable accent. Having him as the clerk in the department store would be nice if the movie would be based on Leisure Suit Larry 1. Rob Schnieder is a dead ringer, and has a good larryish voice, but Jim Carrey needs more comedic roles. I dont know, but at this point, I will go with Schnieder. He’s a perfect larry, and I like those stupid, silly comedies, even though ebert says they are pure crap. If anyone can talk Carrey into it, more power to them.

doobi gal looks exactly like larry. maby we cant see it in that photo but its unbelievable how they look alike. its all there: the eyes, the smile, the head, the nose. believe me, there are photos which it looks like larry character was based on him. i met him about 2-3 monthes ago, and i realized that his face are the most weird face i have ever seen. he is short, his head is huge, and i even havent started to talk about the nose.
he is the perfect larry look alike ever.
here is a photo of us together with an inflatable love doll:-)

I think the possibility of a LSL movie all depends on how successful the upcoming LSL game is. It would have to be a huge record breaking hit.

Adventure games pretty much died out because they failed to evolve. A movie could bring it all back to the mainstream.

can anyone really name one single movie that was made from a video game that was decent in any way?

ok, everyone stop shouting tomb raider. you’re right, that one was pretty good. (the second one was sort of lame though) however, every other video game turned movie was a complete disaster. let’s be honest with ourselves for a second and admit that we really don’t need a lsl movie. it would be terrible. i’m already irritated that they are releasing the new game on xbox and the ps2! let it stay on the pc where it belongs!

      what’s next? saturday morning cartoons???

There isn’t one good movie released based on a game, but I often think of one game that COULD be a good movie: Gabriel Knight. 🙂 In fact, I went as far as doing a GK1 movie section for my web site.
