ParticipantLong-time fans of the KQ series who, like me, opted to give Mask of Eternity a chance (and actually enjoyed it in the process) often found that it was possible to go “off-map” in several levels: namely, the Kingdom of Daventry, the Dimension of Death, and the Underground Realm of the Gnomes. In the first two cases, a bit of creative jumping could bring you to a vast, empty expanse surrounding the “orthodox” game map.
In the last case, using the “teleport” code via the console interface would allow you to relocate Conner to the very bottom of the game map. The traversable tunnels of the Underground Realm of the Gnomes were mapped at an elevated position within a 3D landscape, and clicking anywhere on the map after activating the “teleport” cheat code will place Conner at the very bottom of the 3D map in that position, allowing you to explore the flat plane beneath the game world. This is very helpful if (like me) you want to do a 100% playthrough of each level. The URotG is one of the more glitchy levels in Mask of Eternity, and several of the mummies do not “spawn” where they should within the game map – instead, they appear when you move Conner along the very bottom of the map.
The problem is that once you have placed Conner in this position, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to get him out! Clicking anywhere else within the game map will place Conner at the same “lowest-possible” location within the URotG game map. The “teleport” code does not allow you to transport Conner to another level. It is possible to place Conner within the very bottom of one of the shafts of the traversable game world [this is one of the shafts you would ordinarily die when walking into…], but there’s no way to get Conner out of the shaft and back onto the path above.
Has anyone else encountered this difficulty? Is there a way to get Conner back into the “orthodox” game map once you’ve brought him underneath the URotG tunnels, or even a way to instantly teleport him to another level outside of the URotG using the console?
