ParticipantI wanted to ask one more time, If I don’t get a reply then I won’t pester anyone anymore. I have King’s Quest 6 disk version that my Dad bought for me, years ago, but a few of the disks are corrupt. I wonder if anyone reading here has the disk version, and would be willing to give me the files from the disks that were messed up? I can even get some screen caps of the box, the disks, the manuals, everything (if I remember correctly the guidebook to the land of the green isles was used for copy protection)… I even got the junk inserts, and the “Girl in the Tower” radio station list. The reason I suggested screen caps/scans is so whoever would send me the files on the disks might think I wasn’t legit, and I can show you that I own it.
I’d appreciate anyone that can help out, thanks!

Participant(re: Kings Quest 6 Corrupt Floppies!) Hello Keith II,
I have the disks you need, thanks to the fact that my silly Sierra collector self had to have all 4 colors of the King’s Quest 6 boxes!! 🙂
email me at
Link:crownofiron@hotmail.com (mailto:crownofiron@hotmail.com)
and let me know which disks you need, I’ll e-mail the files, if that is at all possible!
Anything for a fellow Sierra memory kid,
Yours,

Participant(re: Kings Quest 6 Corrupt Floppies!) Thanks alot! I’ll recheck the disks and see which ones I need, and then email you shortly! KQ6 (disk version) one of the best games sierra has ever made IMO 🙂

I know how you feel. KQ6 was my favourite and all I have now is a box full of 5 1/4 floppies. Computers these days do not have such disk drives and my drive (5 1/4 drive that is) broke down in the middle of installing it. I guess I”ll never get to play it again!

Participant(re: Kings Quest 6 Corrupt Floppies!) Solution for anybody with 5.25 floppies:
Go to a thrift store, buy an old x86 PC with both drives, and copy the disks one by one the old way, then copy those disks to a CD, with lots of games backed-up.
Or, if the x86 has Win3.x or above, networking via serial or parallel port is possible. Lastly, check for a cheap way to just buy the extra floppy drive and hook it up.
All floppy disk controllers in all PCs support 5.25, and WinXP has a driver for it. I still use my mine today in the new PC I just bought (another Compaq Presario).
