King’s Quest VI (From RW Anthology) won’t run in XP

Hello,
    My system is not cooperating with me when I am trying to run KQVI. I followed some previous instructions that were posted here and download VDMS and created a new KQVI batch file, but the program refuses to run stating:

PANIC:
sierra.ini not found

that file is CLEARLY in the directory, I even tried renaming the file with an clear .ini extension…

any ideas?
