King’s Quest VI CD on XP – Yes, This Again

I’m trying to get King’s Quest VI CD running on Windows XP.  The reason I’m not going for the DOS version is because I prefer the hi-res, better synced conversation portraits.

I’ve tried some of the troubleshoots I’ve found here and elsewhere, but I keep having a unique error.

When trying to run Setup.exe on the original KQ6 CD (non-collection), I get “Application Error: SETUP caused a General Protection Fault in module SETUP.EXE at 0001:2047.  Choose close.  SETUP will close.”

When trying to do the collection setup, nothing happens.  The cursor will go to an hourglass for a second or two, then back to an arrow but nothing comes up.

I’m running Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Thanks for any help on getting this game running in Windows.
