Anything else, ask, comment here, and check out our site, and forums!

GuestI’ve been watching Skidddog playthru of KQ8 recently on YT. He does a decent job of it, broken down into 12-15 minute segments. There was one frustrating puzzle in the “lava” realm that probably needs a redo (it’s the only part he had to fast-forward thru, since it was so much trial and error to solve — but it was really funny when he showed the “I just backflip” to help thru certain other puzzles, I’m curious if that trick was intended by the designers; maybe so, since they took the effort to add the backflip at all).
My last KQ game was KQ6 — after that I went to college and just got too busy for games for several years (except Ulima9, I made time for that one). So I appreciate being able to watch these walkthru’s during an afternoon workout. During the walkthru Skiddog does talk about a couple flaws in the game – like having to go to first person mode to avoid some glitches and freezes.
I’d say keep the gore – while I was a bit shocked when he had the sword and sliced a creature right in half – well, that’s Sierra pushing the envelope 😀
Overall I enjoyed watching KQ8, it wasn’t a bad game (aside from the glitches — Ultima9 released with horrible glitches as well, the game’s initial release was literally a broken unbeatable game; they had a downloadable patch a few months later). A remake would be nice, focused on the story — I’d like to learn more about that Ice Queen, for instance. “dropped my scepter” – yeah sure, mmhmmm.
🙂
