ParticipantHi,
I was recently thrilled to win an Ebay auction on The Colonel’s Bequest. I didn’t own a playable copy of it before, not for years. It was working fine on my Gateway laptop, and I think I used VDMSound, but then it started having problems.
VDMSound wouldn’t load it up, I had foolishly switched the audio setting and I still can’t seem to find the right setting in order to have sound (although I did before). Also sometimes it won’t load up at all, if I just go into it through DOS.
I wanted to download DOSBox, but that website is confusing. Anyway, my two main problems are the sound and the irregularity in whether the game opens at all. I’ve read some of your pointers, and have set it for 256 colors and the resolution needed, but that doesn’t solve it.
Please help! I love this game so much, and wish to play it on my laptop. Email me atArchypoet@aol.com if you have tips…I don’t check this board that often.
Thanks,

ParticipantDOSBox is the best. I played it all the way through with no glitches using DOSBox. The website isn’t THAT confusing.
You can go here for the Windows installer. I would recommend it for most games.
