I am a HUGE fan of fan-translated games and was wondering if anyone else around these boards were too. For those of you who don’t know, cartridge games can be dumped as a ROM image and are alaviable for download at ROM sites for play with emulators. Also, there is a scene of people who translate ROMs and put their work out on a .ips file that you can use to “patch” the game with to play it in English. I actually got to betatest a patch once; It was about two years ago for a random dungeon crawling game called Torneco no Daibouken (Torneco’s Adventure) and the project was being done by a group called Magic Destiny. Despite the work being almost completed, the patch hasn’t been released yet. The game was made by Enix (now Square Enix) and the sequel was on the origional Playstation as Torneko: The Last Hope. The third never can to the US for PS2 because the second bombed. Anyways, I am interested in hearing what others think about it.

I’m glad that people are doing this. I’m a huge Resident Evil fan, so to finally be able to play Sweet Home (the inspiration for the series) in English was great. Luckily for me though, most of the games I want to play are released in the US, with the exception of Suikogaiden Vol. 1&2, which will probably never be translated because its a text-based game, requiring a LOT of work.
