I’ve been standing up for this new game on my abandonware forums for the past few days now…..I just wanted to know: Who is excited about this new Larry game? I think it’s great that they are reviving an old theme. Sure, it may be different gamestyle, different lead character and such….but who cares? I have been searching around the Vivendi Universal community and they are assuring fans that this game will have some old humour as well as style. There will be things like an inventory, puzzles, easter eggs ( 0_0 ), and adventures. From the mouth of one of the developers it was said this game will definatley NOT be an action game….no platform jumping at all!
I don’t judge this game except for what it is….a new game based on old ways. I will definatley be one of the first few people to buy this game in 2004. I am of course a loyal classic sierra fan, don’t get me wrong….but I just can’t let people slander this new idea!
      Anyone agree?

I for one am excited. I never was a HUGE LSL fan (I was a big one though… KQ,SQ,QFG was my bag yo…) but I am simply glad to see any real progress. Maybe this game will open doors…….

I am definitely excited about this. This is probably some of the best news I have heard in awhile. I am looking forward to Jane Jenson’s new game too. I think the guys making the new Larry game seem to be earnest about making the new game an exciting experience for old timers and new gamers. The fact that they are negotiating with Al makes it even better.

One thing I do like is that they have set one or two designers which have control over development. Which is just like they used to do a long time ago. In other words, there is one guy from sierra (yes he’s from sierra) who tells the Hi Voltage software people what to do. He even goes on the LSL forums and asks for suggestions and feedback. Maybe Sierra is finally learning that the old ways worked well….

(re: Excited about LSL:MCL) I am also very excited about this game and I’m at this point confident that it will, at least, be a good game – maybe even a great one.
I am especially excited about Sierra opening up and listening to the fans. We have been ignored for many years now, but it seems like that is slowly starting to change now.
Yes, this game will be different than the earlier games and yes, people waiting for a point and click adventure game will be disappointed, but it can still be a great game. Let’s just keep an open mind.

It’s great news that Sierra are making some adventure games from their classic franchise, but I would consider this more of a spin-off than a sequel. I mean, NO Al Lowe? That’s like Indiana Jones without Steven Speilberg.

But if the game holds true to the Larry style than that’s okay. But it ain’t no Larry 8 (With Al Lowe DESIGNING) and that’s what we wanted.

I wonder though, with all this Larry news will Catz think of reopening The Ultimate Leisure Suit Larry Web-Site?

(re: re: Excited about LSL:MCL) I believe that a good Larry game can be made without Al Lowe, although I, as probably everybody else, would rather see that Al Lowe would be the designer or at least some kind of advisor.
The guys over at High Voltage Software are Larry fans themselves though, and they seem to be very nice people and quite frankly my confidence in them has grown stronger all the time. At this point I’m confident that the game they will bring us will be a great one.

“: About three months ago I tried to get in thouch with Catz, but I never reached him. It would be great if he could make a comeback, but I guess that he has just moved on. If I remember correctly he didn’t update The Ultimate Leisure Suit Larry Site during the two last years it was up, but maybe that was because nothing really new happened on the Larry front back then.
Anyway, I agree that it would be nice if he could make a comeback and, for example, join the LarryLives.com team, because a guy like him could surely make a huge difference in our efforts.

There is an article out on CNN.com with some interesting information on LSL:MCL. It seems that the media (or the big entertainment conglomerates) are trying to make the game out to be part of a “sex and nudity” gaming wave. LSL:MCL looks pretty goofy, but the other game looks downright raunchy.

I really hope this game does well. I heard that at least Microsoft will be looking forward to LSL:MCL’s sales to decide if a new Tex Murphy game would be viable.
