ParticipantI was recently extremely fortunate to receive an old Apple Macintosh from a friend of mine (my first mac!). It’s a PowerMac 7100/80, currently running Mac OS 8.1, and originally released in 1995. Since then it’s been heavily upgraded in the memory and hard drive departments, yet still has the original 80Mhz CPU.
This past weekend I went through my game collection in search of games that contain both the IBM-compatible PC and Apple Mac versions in one box. This, I discovered to my delight, was the case with QG5. Sadly, I didn’t have the time to install and run the game as I had an urgent appointment elsewhere.
I didn’t go through all my Sierra games, but does anyone know of any others that might have been published with both the PC and Mac versions in the same box/jewel case or on the same CD(s)?
And if anyone on here is running or has run QG5 Mac, I’ll appreciate if you let me know what I can expect with regards to performance and technical problems that may crop up. I’ll be installing and running the game this coming weekend, and I’m genuinely excited.

ParticipantLighthouse was a PC / Mac hybrid. I can’t think of any others right now
I have a Mac copy of KQ7 that I can’t use (I have OSX and it won’t run in Classic mode). If you’d like it, email me with your address and I’ll stick it in the mail for you. I might also have a couple of games on floppies but I can’t guarantee the floppies still work.

ParticipantThanks for replying, Emily.
It turned out QG5 Mac wouldn’t install beyond the first bunch of files. The PC version (on the same discs) installs and runs without any problems. I can only imagine that the game has some kind of problem with MacOS 8.1. Not being experienced with Macs, I have no idea where to begin troubleshooting this.
I’ve downloaded some games from Mac abandonware sites, and am planning on running them this coming weekend. I’d appreciate if you could tell me how to format the CD or 3.5″ disk for transferring files from PC to Mac. I already tried one CD this past weekend, but the Mac wouldn’t read it at all.

ParticipantThe Mac should be able to read any fat 12 formated diskette and most PC formatted CDs.

ParticipantI played QFG5 on a Mac. I think it ran good. Just get the latest patches. 80 Mhz might be too slow, though. The only problem I remember having was trying to load save games I made on the PC on the Mac.
