ParticipantHi Ken and Roberta,
I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time now – thank you for all the awesome memories you’ve given me over the years, especially back in the old days when I was an 11 year old kid with a brand new XT and too much time on my hands. Your games have gotten me through some rough times, and have made the good times even better.
Sierra games are THE BEST games ever made – sure today’s graphics are better, the technical foundations are far more complex and impressive than the games of the late eighties/early nineties, but what they have in technical sharpness, they lack in heart. No game I’ve played in the last 6 years or so has given me as much to talk about as the old Sierra games; when I get together with my mates and we reminisce, every single time we find ourselves waxing nostalgic about Space Quest, King’s Quest and (my personal favourite) Hero’s Quest… all of those games I have played over and over and over again, and every time I’ve done so I’ve found something new to enjoy. Thank you, and all the other talented people at the old Sierra for giving that to me.
Phantasmagoria…. wow, what an amazing game. It was awesome to see the dark side of the mind that gave us the feel-good fairy stories behind the King’s Quest games. I am just sorry that what happened to the old Sierra took place at a time when games were just moving into new and exciting realms, but then perhaps it wasn’t a complete disaster considering that with the shift towards better looking and sounding games came the movement towards games that lacked the heart that Sierra was so famous for. Frankly, I think you did the right thing as the sentiment behind the success of the old games was lost on a new generation of gamers hungry for eye candy, and as such, perhaps the games Sierra would have made would not have been as successful as before. Just a thought.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know how I feel about my early gaming days as a “Sierra boy”. Whatever you do with the rest of your lives, may it make you as happy as your games have made me.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Deon du Plessis

To this day, my favorite games we did are still: Leisure-Suit Larry, Space Quest and Phantasmagoria.
I miss Sierra….

Sierra was awesome!!! King’s Quest 1 was the first computer game I ever played. I was so inept at the beginning I couldn’t get Graham across the bridge those dang moat monsters. Anyway that started the addiction, I couldn’t wait to see what happened next in the stories. Qfg, SQ, LSL, and KQ are among some of the greatest games created. I am suprised with how many people know of them. And I would like to thank you Ken for starting up this webpage. It is great to have a resource where people can remember the golden age of computer gaming, which was Sierra On-line!
