You’re right, I am extremely confused because one of your team members (Vanessa Mule) wrote:
“It will be a free game, but… We will be selling the boxes/CDs/manuals to go with the free game”
and
“Vivendi/Universal (who owns the copyright to all Sierra property) is OK with our plans, as long as we don’t sell the actual game.”
These statements can be found in this link of yours. I’m sure you’re aware of it. After all, she made that post using your email address. (Hmm…)

As for this statement,
“Vivendi/Universal doesn’t work with independent fan remakes so there is no problem there.”
So one minute VU is, and I quote your team member, “OK with our plans, as long as we don’t sell the actual game”, and the next minute, they don’t “work with independent fan remakes so there is no problem there”? Just which one is it then?
Also, doesn’t VU own Laura Bow 1? Whatever method you’ll choose to charge people for your remake, don’t you have to get VU’s permission first before you start selling it? Making money out of a game which they still hold copyright to is illegal. Just how do you plan to overcome that problem?
And you ask me why I say there’s so much false info…
