I’m aware of the difference between real action and timed puzzles, and of the difference between action/adventure and pure adventure.
Timed puzzles, like as the ones on GK, are not considered “action”, which is why GK is classified as “adventure”.
I haven’t played any recently-made adventure games so I can’t speak of their quality, but 6-7 games a year don’t exactly make the genre alive. Compared to it’s glory days, I’d still have to say it’s pretty much dead.
