The most recent text game I know of
is Future Boy! from 2005. It has graphics, sound, music, and
voice acting, but all descriptions, narration, and input are text - and
it's a superhero game. Here's the website,
with a free demo available.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone
knew of any adventure games (whether freeware, fan-made, or
commercially made) that were released in the last five to fifteen years
that actually use a type interface. I was showing a friend of mine who
isn't very exposed or
knowledgeable about computers some of the old Sierra games (including The
Colonel's Bequest and Laura Bow II: The Dagger of Amon Ra).
He especially enjoyed the
typing interface on Colonel's Bequest, and kept typing in silly, funny,
and sometimes quite adult commands, like "Show Celie your breasts".
Often, that game will focus in on a certain word and say "This game
doesn't understand 'breasts'," which often made both of us laugh
hysterically.
Anyway, I'm a big fan of
the typing interface and I wonder if anyone has used it again within
the time period I mentioned. Either send a reply to the group or to me
privately.
Sincerely,
Ryan A. Scott
